Busse is your one and only?

Nuts, I forgot that I did recently purchase an Ontario SP-43 as a similar knife to the NMSFNO but one I could afford to use. I did however purchase several Busse-kin since.

I'm definately there. when Jerry first came out with the Steel heart II in A2 steel, I bought a few of the "expensive" knives for survial and they worked better than any knife I had ever used. But that was it.. had my survival knife, didn't need any more. then, a while before the ASH1 came out I got back into it.. and went HOG wild for busse knives. Yes, I've sold off almost all my other knives other than a few vintage SOGS, AL mars, and a few Fehrmans I like. All knife buying is now Busse. Although I did recently order a shipment of Himalayan imports after Jerry's release of the Killa Zilla to do some comparision test. They are well built and very cost efficient.
My Busse knives are almost all like family heirlooms.. most I hate selling with only doing so to finance more busses. Busses are the ultimate survival blade, they are Artwork, they are a monolithic fighting tool... I would almost compare how I feel toward my Busse's like the samurai would feel toward their weapons..
Great Blades. plus I like paying for Jerry's retirement and Drinking! :-)

I'd like to agree with, and expand upon, what fbusmc wrote:

indeed, and I fully expect my grandkids grandkids to be using them long after I'm gone.

Way to many great Custom fixed blades out there to stick with Busse only.
I do have more fixed blades from Busse than any other maker.

+1  And over time, the ratio of my Busse's over my others is growing.

To be honest, there are a lot of other brands out there that you haven't tried, so to say Busse is just the best, you have had to tried the rest. Ok, so by a show of hands, how many have a fixed blade from Rockstead?
Don't get me wrong but there are many brands and customs out there and I personally think Busse is one of the best, but that doesn't mean I will only do Busse.... I like other types of knives that Busse doesn't make also, like bali-song and folding knives...

I mainly focus on Busse Combat, but I seek, acquire, and use Master Smith and Journeyman Smith blades as well as quality blades from other manufacturers. I look for a properly forged/heat treated blade with an excellent cutting geometry and handle ergonomics first; Busse second. Chances are Busse has those bases covered.

I love all my Busse blades and will continue to buy them, however, its the thickness of them that drives me to still buy from other companies as well - I prefer blades under .19" for 90% of my uses. Other companies that have my business for life other than Busse are RAT Cutlery, BRKT and SAKs.

When Busse regularly puts out .14" blades, I will then stop shopping elsewhere :D

I guess I'm guilty as charged. When I found Busse I sold all of my other fixed blade knives.

Since I love a good solid differential hardened blade with a good acid etch I have to budget for more than one source.

I really like my Busses, some more than others. But I have been known to buy some really cheezy blades at times, just for fun.

Generally speaking, I only like knives that are made out of steel. :D

These days, I'm only into Busse, Bark River, Condor, RAT Cutlery, Case, Great Eastern, Spyderco, Mora, Koster... and a few other makers.

I buy customs from a number of makers but most of my knives and almost all my users are Busses

My last 7 purchases were Busse-kin knives and that is all I have bought this year. I guess that puts me in the Busse camp. I still look at other knives, I just haven't puled the trigger for any but Busse's.:D:D

trldad

I still look at a lot of makers. I have not bought a fixed blade from another maker in a while. Mostly I look at custom makers for stuff I want, but have not bought yet (Koster, Siegle, Fiddleback, Lamey, Horton, etc, etc, etc).

There are designs, profiles, thicknesses etc in combo's from other makers that will continue to tempt me.

Honestly, I don't have a ton of other fixed blades in the the same classes as the Busse to even compare the steel to.

Also, Scrapyard and Swamprat definitely have some tempting designs all the time.
