Busse Pellet / Air Rifle

They don't flip around in the sticky.....holds 'em goodnsnug!

Someone in my warehouse thought it would be funny to run over a rat stuck to a sticky pad with the Forklift........kinda nasty actually.

.22 CB rounds . . . they contain only a large primer, and no gunpowder.

In a long rifle they are VERY quiet, velocity ranges from 350 to 700 fps, and they come in .22 long shells to fit your standard rifle.

I've dispatched my fair share of unwelcome visitors with these rounds before.

Gamo make s a Varmit hunter in .177.. 1200 fps with one cock of the barrel!!

Supposed to be very accurate..

Browning lever action .22's are great little guns imo. Tube fed (will shoot shorts), classic look, smooth fuction. I plan on getting one for my rodent problem. Around $500.

I have had about 7 different air rifles, and the most accurate has to be between Gamo and Benjamin Sheridan. I have a .22 rated @ 700FPS that will take down anything smaller than 50lbs in one shot and a .177 that is nasty accurate up to about 300 feet. Both of these are Benjamin sheridan, my Gamo hunter with hardwood stock broke (idiot friend loaded copperhead BBs). For about $100 you could find either the Sheridan 1000 (.177 @ 1000FPS) or a Gamo hunter combo (.177 @ 1000fps / 4X fixed BSA scope). Gamo is nice and easy, Sheridan is really nice and the customer service is excellent. I have a peep sight on my .22 and the reciever optic (basically a hollow screw) fell out in the woods. The company sent me an entire sight set free and some lock tite, with a letter stating they were sorry and they appreciated my business!!!!!

Pick a rifle and pick some nice pellets, I have the Crow Magnums and Predators for my .22, in .177 I would recommend the Silver Bears or Silver Arrows.
Good luck with the rodents, they shouldn't last long

Thanks 007 that was exactly what I wanted to know ie ,what is the best value in a cheaper pellet gun. Here in canada the laws on rifles even 22's are not great
so a decent pellet rifle is better. I was wondering about the old style pump guns.
When I was a kid we would pump them 20 times for magnum power.

Poison works the best on rats because the can't vomit. There is probably a rat less than 2 meteres away from you right now.

A good side cocker is a lot more powerful than a pump gun.

A couple years ago the nice Chinese side cockers were about $130-140. It looks like they are about $160 now.

With a cheap scope they are super accurate, dime sized groups at 25 yards.

I prefer the .22 because they have more muzzle energy. Also they are slower so if it diesels it is less likely to go supersonic which will change the tragectory.

Sounds like we have a few airgunners in this forum!:D I just got into this last Summer when I purchased a Beeman RX-2 .22. It is considered a springer air rifle, however instead of an actual metal spring, it has a gas ram/piston. For those into rifle shooting, you should consider picking up an air rifle. Even though the distances are shorter, it is an inexpensive (ammo wise) way to practice technique if you can't make it to the range that often. Since they are so quiet, you can shoot safely in the back yard with the proper setup.

My favorite airgun... fully customized, silenced & gas-ram converted Webley Tracker:

And also... custom R7 and AirArms S300 Carbine:

all customizations (including stocks) by myself

I have done some more reaserch and I want an air gun rather than a 22 for legal reasons. The R7 is very popular but a bit pricey so I would suggest the HW30
which is a similar but cheaper. I will get either the HW30 or a CZ Slavia 631
which is an exellent rifle but has an extra lock. These rifles are around 165$ canadian

Got a link?

What's the HW30? Thanks!

I believe the HW30 is a Weihrauch air rifle (springloaded)

Here's a link to the Weihrauch website:

http://www.weihrauch-sport.de/englisch/e_startseite/e_index.htm

and some info on tuning a Weihrauch:

http://www.airgun.co.nz/tuning.htm

If you want Weihrauch's best springloader you should look into the HW97K model. A lot of tuning kits availlable for this one. When tuned it performs like a dream in terms of accuracy and increased muzzle velocity (no harsh recoil and almost no mechanical vibrations).

+1

I have a similar problem with a woodpecker, he's killing my house, so PLEASE help! ACCURACY COUNTS, and please reccommend a good scope too. the bird moves too much to try it without! LOL

I am pretty sure that you shouldnt shoot woodpeckers, some of them are threatened.

I purchased an adult air rifle for shooting yard pests myself. It was loud. I then went and purchased a Marlin tube fed bolt action for about $100. I scoped it and dialed in the scope for CCI CB longs. They are quieter than the pellet gun was. For mice you can also shoot those little Aguila Colibri rounds that are only primer no powder. Some guy I know target shoot with them in their basement. Not enough oomph for anything much larger than mouse though IMO. Sorry this wasn't short.
