Honestly, when I rescued him I had no idea what breed he was. The shelter had told us he came in listed as a lab/dachshund mix, but they thought he was a cocker spaniel/dachshund mix. I'd never even heard of Boykins Spaniels until you mentioned it, but I can't help but think you are right about this.

He's got a great nose and seems to be a natural bird dog, both for retrieving and flushing. He's just incredibly sensitive to loud noises, especially firearms so I'm not so sure he would be OK for this. I will try to post some more pictures of him when I can...... :)

When he was still a pup and had those super sharp teeth he used to tear into my 14 year old Shepard mix who passed last year. The Shepard could whoop him any time he wanted but he let the pup bite his lips and neck too much..

All these gorgeous dogs makes me want to get another one. Wait, I have a hard time keeping up with the one I have. Plus, I doubt he would be to happy with me bringing in something that would take attention away from him. 13 years of being a spoiled brat. LOL
