Busse Sarge 7

I think if most of us were handed the SARGE7 while blind folded and then were asked to look, we would be surprised at the size of the blade.
For me this is a good thing as we don't have many lighter weight choices in that blade length from Busse. I feel the thing the SARGE has going for it is the thiner grind which helps promote a deep bite while chopping despite it weight.

I have given the SARGE7 its standard out of the box paces to see where it stands, But this thread has motivated me to do a simple chopping comparison.
I used the SARGE7 and NMSFNO then for some control a NMFBM and re-profiled BWM with a shallow zero grind.
I marked a 2x4 down the middle and counted the number of swings it took each blade to reach the halfway point.

These are the results, keep in mind I took smooth controlled swings and let the blades do most of the work.

I like this ^. NIce job

Thank you Eric, You may recognize the NMSFNO and NMFBM. I purchased them from you. The NMFBM was Moss Green.
When I stripped it I think I got lucky, there are only two little pits on the whole knife and they are on the ricaso. Also I think the carbon layer
was removed. Definitely the cleanest piece of INFI that I ever stripped.

Thanks again Rick

So can I assume the Sarge will be released in a series? Man, I need to get out more.....

By applying the same force, that conclusion is incorrect, Mr.geometry and Mr.weight will tell you the same thing.

Sorry, but I am confused by the brevity of your post.

The results are the results, there for all to see.

Do you disagree with the methodology of the test?

What is wrong with his conclusion? (strictly speaking, FTR-14c did not draw any conclusion, merely posted a photo)

Can you please explain further?

Do you have some concrete results of your own to post?

I'll settle this,

These are the results, keep in mind I took smooth controlled swings and let the blades do most of the work.

Edit: Results may vary do to missed placed swings, exact speed and force of the swing, minor pin knots in the wood,
exact sharpness of blades, exact position of the grip on the handles, ect ,ect

Hello guys, I like the looks of the Sarge 7 very much, but when possibly piercing isn't there too big chance that the hand will slip to the blade because of lack of any guard? Or do you condider the knife safe enough even when piercing, stabbing? Thank you for any reply. J.

Naw... The handle almost acts as a guard the way it's shaped. I wouldn't think twice about stabbing my Sarge into something.... Ok, I already have. Also, I'm not a big fan of a choil, BUT with the Sarges larger blade, it DOES make for choking up and finer cutting like trap triggers, etc.. a very nice touch on this blade and very functional without losing too much edge. If you're wanting a Sarge, pick one up soon before there gone... You wont be dissapointed. I carry mine in a large Spec Ops. Fits great.....until my Chuddybear sheath gets here anyway... then i'll shove my new NMSFNO into it.

Good luck!

The red & black G10 are the most wanted one as they already sold out quite a while ago (I can't see it anymore on the company store). Just wondering which one will be gone next

I've been researching sheaths for my NMSFNO and from what I've read the spec ops isn't a good fit, the blade is too wide for the liner - unless you want heat and reshape it. But the blade is even wide for the fabric outer as well it sounds like.

The front talon could be shaped a little better for a finger guard, but you can easily work around that. A lanyard will keep your hand in place and help with chopping. Even without a lanyard, you can use a two hand push stab grip on the Sarge. One hand goes over the end of the knife and pushes the knife.

Thank you guys for your replies. I understand that the guard is not the safest when piercing with the knife but it is could be easily fixed with lanyard...thank you.

when gripping the knife properly you will not slide past the guard. it is very functional.
