Busse Warranty

Do you really think Busse should be expected to make a Custom Shop SHBA or SHBM in the event someone were to trash theirs? Or give that customer current market value? That is an unreasonable point of view. Jerry is not responsible for the secondary market price on these knives, and it's rather doubtful that he planned or expected the prices to go up as much as they have. They will take care of you, but they never promised to replace an irreplaceable knife.
Well said. There's always the naysayer that has a problem with everything, no matter what the situation. There's no way to please everyone, but it seems the majority is plenty happy with the way things are. Even if the after market is unreasonable, :p

I would use the crap out of those.
Me too! They look to have been loved by the previous owner, why not continue the practice? Knives are meant to be used.

That's a great point.

I think this "Lifetime Warranty" definition is wrong. I'm pretty sure they have said "We'll take care of you" in all cases? Have I been mis reading this forum for the last year.....?

It's not "Lifetime". It's forever. From the Busse Combat website:

We guarantee against any and all unintentional MAJOR damage forever.

"Knives are meant to be used."

Yeah, but in Busse's case, that completely destroys their collector value, which I suspect is more than half of sales.

Actually, for the older designs, using them does not dramatically alter the price. It only lowers the price a very small amount.

Even newer ones, using them only gives an initial slight price decrease. Even ones that have been used so much the coating is wearing off, still retain their value better than most other things. And actually be priced above what they were when new by a little bit.

Its their warranty not mine, since most of the straight handles are so expensive, and considering who has them, yes i do think they would replace, but thats just an opinion. Do i expect it no, do i think they would, yeah. how else do you propose they make good on that warranty?

Your words not mine. Do you think that a Straight handle model would cost so much over original price, what is it,,,,,6x's the original sales price in some cases, if they were still available today for sale? I didn't blame Jerry but the prices are due to a lack of supply.

And i have no problem with the warranty, I have used it myself already actually. So I'm not sure were you got the impression i was talking the company down, I thought it was an affirmation of a great warranty. I'm one thats

Small supply + hype = High demand + crazy prices.
Transform the equation as you will. :)

As far as the warranty goes, if Busse can't fix it, they should replace it with same or similar design.

HYPE!!! You get what you pay for, if you find something you like better buy it. No one said you had to buy Busse's thats your decision. As for the guys around here we Love'um. And you just can't beat the warrenty. If you've got any further question i suggest you call Jerry and talk to him personally. Not trying to get into an argument over this issue. Just give Jerry a call and I'm sure he'll be glad to help you out with his honorable service, knives and warrenty.

+1 on calling Jerry. He is the only company owner that is always ready to talk with customers all the time. Just as long as its after 11 or 12 oclock :D

He's gotta sober up some time, if even only a little bit.

Not on your case man just trying to let you know as well as the others that have posted before me. If you have any questions the Boss Man himself will gladly help you out. And Congrats on your score, now go beat it and find out where we're all coming from. And i wish i was still at the pizza face stage in my life, but i'm way past that.
Now i just consume pizza's. :D:D:p

To the OP I doubt you will have any problem with the warranty .... the knives you have .... there are enough blanks kept to enable a replacement if broken .... but knives that old which have been used are unlikely to break now .... a flaw would have shown up long ago. The main thing when using them is "loss" .... make sure they are covered for the after market price .... or at least a custom shop order to replace them .... ring up and check the information you need to insure them ....

However I am sure Busse will look after you .... using those old rare ones you have had from new is what it is all about .... I would'nt change a thing in that regard ....

Edited to add : ... if you do use those old beauties a bit .... show us some pic's of them being used .... and do a little write up on how they feel .... I can then live vicariously through you! Lol .... cos' I would love to have the set you have :cool:
