After reading the "Thread that wouldn't die", I mean "Emerson"

, I saw Busse mentioned.

I'm curious if anybody has a Busse. I'd like to get one of their products but I'd like to know about availability. So far I've only heard that 2 forumites have a Busse.

TIA,

I ordered a Battle Mistress and Steel Heart II, both in INFI, about 6 months ago in October. I recently contacted Mr. Busse and I should be recieving both next week sometime. If I understand correctly there waiting list is now 8 months so I guess I am lucky.

take care

I had a Cadet for a while. I was amazed how they could get the knife as sharp as the did with the thickness of the steel. It's a good knife.

Also, if your going to contact them do so around noon eastern time or Monday afternoons before five eastern time. I guess their machins are so loud they often don't here the phone ring even.

take care

Rudy,
I'm a bit concerned at your post, as one friend of mine and I have been waiting for INFI Steel Hearts since last May. We were originally told 12-16 weeks. There was an accident at the shop that I heard about, and I'm sure the Basic line took some time and effort (see Ernie Emerson's response in the "Emerson" thread), but communication could be better, like returning messages or e-mails in a more timely fashion. In fact my friend found out that his was supposedly shipping, and his was ordered a couple weeks after mine. I'm not one to call every couple of weeks to check on status, as I don't want to make a nuisance of myself, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. I'm starting to feel a little p*ssed on. Probably `cause I live in Wolverine country and he's across the border in Buckeye land.

I understand your anxiousness. I am the same way being only some 5 hours away from the workshop in Indiana. Oh well. I try not to make a nuisance out of myself either.

thanks and take care

I have had an order in on a Busse BM for some time, I don't mind the wait as the dealer was upfront and told me not to expect it for awhile. That I don't mind. What I don't like is when they say "oh a few weeks" and it turns into months or years.

-Cliff

But I do like it when they tell me month's or year's and I get it in 6 months or less.

I agree totally with you Mr. Stamp. I don't really have a problem waiting unless they lie to me about the wait time. If they tell me a few weeks it should be there as I far as I am concerned or I should get a call with an explanation as to why its not there. Thats just me though--right or wrong.

take care

Hi Smoke,
I've been waiting for my original Battle Mistress order that I placed in May of last year. A friend of mine was responsible for securing a BM that was up for sale in a forum. If not for that, I would still be waiting for my first BM. It pays to follow up with Busse.

-Greg

Grnamin, you and your contact are basically one of the only few who seem to have Busse knives.

We've talked about it, you know how I feel about availability and customer service. Just have the product and give me time to scrounge up the cash.

Heck, they should give you 2 BMs and a comp related job for your patience. I'm surprised you didn't start dancing in the street w/ war yells with the BM. I would.

I do wonder if Chris Reeve has this prob. Actually, I'd like a backlog chart of all the knife makers.

Greg, I hope nobody pulls a Lynn T and tries to sue me for slander.

I have had a BM on order since March 10/99, confirmation was received by mail. It stated that the current waiting time is 16-18 weeks. My calender is marked for a July delivery, I am curious to see if that date is going to be honoured, as this knife is going out overseas to a UN peacekeeper(Yugoslavia). He was informed of the wait, and seems not to concerned. The irony is that I loaned him another knife, until he receives his BM. This knife was bought by one of his friends, who is overseas with him. He is as anxious for him to receive his BM, so he can get the other knife. I hope that my delivery date is kept. A question for anyone, has Busse changed his sheaths at all yet. I had heard that he now utilized a sheath similiar to MD knives now???????

The main reason you are undercut so much when the wait times are posted as the dealers and makers know if they quoted years instead of weeks that a lot of their customers would go somewhere else. So instead they lie and then keep lying trying to hold onto the sale. Now this is not always the case of course, anything could happen to set back dates - but some people will do it knowing the dates have no chance of being reached. Anyone who does business like that only has dealings with me once. Its not the wait, I have waited longer than a few years before, but I don't appreciate the deliberate misinformation.

-Cliff

If I order a custom knife and something happens that drastically affects the timing of delivery, I would appreciate the common courtesy of being notified. Would a knifemaker want to know if an order of steel is going to be two weeks or two months behind schedule? Darn right they would. I think my biggest problem, one that I mentioned in the "Emerson" thread, is a lack of communication, mixed with a dose of accountability. If an ordered knife is running behind, and I call or e-mail for a status, just tell me what the heck is going on. When phone messages go unanswered and e-mails take almost three weeks to receive a response, these are the types of things I was talking about. Answers other than cryptic, "Very soon," or "We ship on Tuesdays," (Huh?) is a real bonus.

Don, I am with you on that. Just keep me up to speed. I just ordered a MPF from Sid Post and as soon as he heard from Mission he dropped me an email updating me on the expected time. That's all I am looking for and I don't think its too much to ask.

By the way I would just reply "I pay my bills on mondays" to the "We ship on tuesdays" comment.

-Cliff

Well, I have several on order that vary from 3 months to 18 months. As long as they are near the expected date I dont mind. But if they are well beyond there better be a reason.

Just FYI,

Jerry fell victim to an equipment explosion that severely injured his left arm. He is just now regaining use of it, one of the reasons why it's taking so long for the BM's to come out.

Cliff, I have dealt with Sid Post also and he is extremely good about letting customers know the status of their orders. He also happens to travel almost all the time with his other jobs. That makes me wonder why so many other dealers and makers have hard time letting customers know what is going on.

I will give Jerry Busse credit though as he has told alot of people about the accident. I don't know him or have any of his knives on order, but I had heard several times that he was hurt. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Thanks Spark, I was wondering what type of accident he was in.

take care

Thank you, Spark. Didn't know about the accident.

DonL, Cliff, I feel the same way. Grnamin and I have discussed this w/ no lack of profanity and ranting from my part especially concerning availability and LEO/Military orders.

Briefly, I thought the US was downsizing it's overall force and that some Police departments are actually recruitng more actively.
