Back when I was paid to metal detect in YNP, we dug up 45-70 and 45-110 casings everywhere we went.

We found them in various conditions, from smashed to good shape. Could tourist hunting parties in the park been sloppy with brass?

I will have to model some guns with knives but for now, I will post this gun I purchased about 10 years ago. It is a 1951 ish 357 magnum smith before it was called the model 27. It was in almost unused condition when I got it. Original owner fired it like 12 times.

Although, not as nice as that pure 100% S&W pre 27 you have there, this is my 5" 27-2 from '76 - I'd absolutely love to see some close ups of that pre 27 you have if you can... those Cokes are incredible....
