With guns I can't really say one is the "best" manufacturer, luckily with knives there is Busse. I can say with 100% certainty they make the best knives money can buy.

It's a full custom that I built. Hidden muzzle 7.5" 1 in 7 bath salt nitride coated sub moa barrel. It shoots like a dream, even the Sierra match kings
 
Looks sweet man. I just was looking at those and it seems most states allow them without a tax stamp right? How does the nub on the back work? Does it extend out?
 
That is the buffer tube. It is normally covered by the but stock. With the but stock removed and a short barrel is what makes is a pistol. If you put a but stock on it will change it from a pistol to a SBR. Need ATF paperwork for that.
Don't know about all states but the AR pistols are the same as any other pistol here.
