Busses and Guns

This one puts the meat on the ground... Weatherby chambered out to 7mm STW. 140 grain Nosler screaming out the barrel at almost 3300 fps. Very flat shooter with a devastating impact. She wears Zeiss 6.5x20, likes walks on the beach, pina coladas and small clovers.

I very much appreciate the thread hijack. I learned something new and exciting. I'm guessing it is near impossible to get a Manhurin here in the States.

I bought the gun from a private party. but I've heard Guns International has a pre-order availability for new guns with varying barrel lengths from the Chapuis Match factory. Used ones also pop up on gunbroker. Usually not in the best shape, as they are mostly police guns decommissioned after quite a few years of service but nevertheless.

Love this thread.... Well .... This is page 45....

Here's what I would carry in the bush, if it was legal to do so here.

Ruger P90 with the decocker. The ASH1 makes an ideal companion;) that old brute of a 45 has cycled with all kinds of ammo, never failed. I prefer it over my Glock or West German made P226.

A gorgeous Weatherby kdstrick! One day perhaps I will get myself one.

For now to round-up my Manurhin MR73 hijack here is an update from my range trip.

The trigger is extremely smooth (by design as the recoil slide moves on rollers). The single action mode is nicely weighed and with almost no sensible travel).
The gun shoots very well. Here are the range pics. The head shots are all in single action mode. The shoulder target shots are 6 DA shots. Both from about 15 yards. I am very happy.

Manurhin Has always had a great reputation for quality & accuracy.... Impressive:thumbup:

Finally got some res handled stainless goodness to go along with my rubber handled stainless goodness.

Nice wheel gun Clampdaddy.

Garth
Thanks Garth. She's a real shooter. Never could warm up to shooting a scoped handgun but with optics installed it is capable of printing some real nice groups. Three rounds of Hornady Leverlution's at 50 yards on the left to check zero and then a cylinder full at 100 on the right.

Thanks again for setting me up with that Scrapmax. I love it. You weren't joking about how light it is. I showed it to one of my buddies who is a diehard hog hunter. He smiled and said "Wow........Can I borrow this for a week or two?". I just laughed and told him to have fun and to try it on enough hogs to bring it back dull.

Sorry for the off topic... but, in my experience nothing is harder on an edge than a feral hog. Course hair covered in dried mud/dirt, a thick hide and built like a tank they will give a knife a real workout. It will be interesting to see how the elmax holds up.

Back to the topic at hand.... how about some state of the art weaponry from 1897. This pair is a few hundred apart on Serial numbers. One still has original pigskin holster. They are 120 years old and are still very tight and have an incredible action. They really talk to ya.

You sir are a man of great taste. Thumbs up  on that beautiful wood stock Weatherby and Zeiss amidst a sea of black rifles (though those are cool also), and Double thumbs up on the vintage six guns.

Very nice, All my guns have non wood stocks. Im rough on my stuff and am afraid what it would look like after a couple outtings. That is a beautiful gun, cheers.

Picked up two for Christmas. First got the Mark 3 target the day after Christmas as I wanted to get one back in the collection before the Mark 3s disappeared(i do not like the new mark 4s). It was still very hard to find one in stock. Already dropped in the Tamdemkross hammer bushing to replace the magazine disconnect and one of their loaded chamber indicator replacement fillers.
Second is one I am really tickled about. Went to the New Years Gun Show that is usually a huge show. It turned out to be kind of small with half of the show floor looking more like a flea market. Even though I have been wanting one of these for years I never wanted to drop the amount of cash they always go for. I ran across the New Bearcat there and got it with some left over Christmas cash. Guess the guy was having a very bad show with the price he gave me on it.

Wow! Just noticed that the place I got the mark 3 grips from is now a hosted knifemaker here on BF. Stoner CNC. The cool thing is that the G10 colors they use match up just about dead on to Busse Combat G10 colors.
