The rpm range is what I was wondering about. It hadn't occured to me that they would make a deisel that was meant to run that fast in its normal operating range. I would have expected a more traditional engine, and something along the lines of the (somewhat) new infinitely variable transmissions.
I started drooling when I saw the pic of them machining the intake for it too! To machine that out of a solid block like that.....just think of the fun you could have with a machine like that :eek: :D

Those Gyrene KLR's run on JP8, which is what everything else in teh USMC runs on. Great for forward-scouting and availability of fuel and such. :thumbup:
 
Dan, thx for those pix. Funny Stuff! I change my desktop background often, and that kid with the square wheel cracks me up. It resides there now! :D

I'm no stranger to JP5 purifying it for the Diesels was a pain..
well,, cleaning the SS filter cones was anyway..

Jeff what is the difference between JP8 and JP5 ? which one is cleaner?

No clue, Dan. When I was in, The USAF burned mostly JP4. Although I had heard the SR71 and other planes burned JP7 or something like that, I am not sure now. All I remember was the JP4??? :confused:
