Butterfly Pattern Dagger

I agree. I think mammoth ivory or even giraffe bone would have put this piece out of this world!

All right, all right! I'll make another one and do it RIGHT! :D ;)

It is really a Gladius not a dagger.:D:D

Pretty close. :) I'm not sure where the line is between big knife/dagger and short sword.
BTW, make sure you send me some pics of your Africa trip. Sounds like a blast.

Phil,

You got anything else like this in the works, perhaps with a guard and handle scales?

I love my version of this blade. Glad I got micarta handles on mine though. The damascus is stunning though.

Thanks for the plug, Ted. :)
How do you like the handle on that one? Is there anything you'd change about it?

No problem, I really like it. If I had to change anything I'd add a lanyard hole for safety when chopping(the guys I chop with get nervous:D) and round the edges at the back of the handle a little. It creates a hot spot on my hand when I chop with it.

Yes! But just picked up a couple more so it is going to be a while before I can save up. I really like this blade!

Well, send it back and I'll round it off for you. I had a feeling that might be a hot spot.
I'm afraid it's too late for a lanyard.... Unless someone could cut a hole with a waterjet...

Thanks for the offer, but it's not a huge issue. I was just mentioning things you might improve on for the next one. As it is, it's one of my favorite blades.
