I have been thinking of buying a nice folder and have almost decided on a sebenza. My only hesitation is if jerry is coming out with a busse folder any time soon i might wait to check it out. Only problem is it sounds like the busse folder is becoming a carrot on a stick we are all chasing. Any real info on if it's getting released at blade or is it going to just hang out there until further notice? I'd appreciate any info, thanks.

My opinion is buy the sebenza. They are great knives, youll be glad you did. I am actually about to pick up one along with a microtech auto. You can always save more cash for the busse floder when it comes out.

For me there is only one REAL folder until the Busse folder reveals itself. The AR.

What's an AR? I haven't been into knives much, mostly swiss army knives or an occasional spyderco or benchmade.

An "AR" is made by Strider Knives...They make a few different styles including there new folder called the SNG which flat out rocks!...

The AR is a bit big for my EDC needs but is a tank of a knife as is the SNG and the Sebenza...any of them will serve you well..And I would at this point get one ahead of the Busse folder really cause it prolly won't be out for a while...

:D

I'll second that call (I use the GB but they are same/same) As to why... The Strider AR and GB are to folders what Busse's are to fixed blades. TANKS. Now Jerry has spent a long time on this project and I'm sure that once he is ready and the Busse Folder is released it too will be bullet proof and a TANK. I have 3 CRK Sebenza's and they are great but I don't EVER worry if my GB is up to a task, and they do have an unconditional, lifetime guarantee. The Sebenza is a great folder but it is not intended for the hard use that the AR's & GB's can put up with and I'm sure Jerry's folder will be more in line with them then the Sebenza. (Sorry if I offended anyone. We know the high levels of abuse the Fixed Blades can withstand and Jerry has told us to expect the same tuff-ness in the folder but as we haven't seen it or heard of any testing yet I have to count it as an unkown for now.) That being said...I will buy a few once Jerry releases it.:D

I agree with the sebbie and the AR/SNG....i have a couple of each, and they do rock, though pray to the maker that you never have to deal with Strider customer service.....

Other great makers of folders that I personally own and enjoy:

TNT
DRalph EDC
Blackwood Curr
Carson
Obenauf
And soon enough Busse will be up there as well....

I have own a Sebenza and have owned a Strider GB and have another on the way. Both are great knives and definitely built exceedingly well. I have to agree %110 with what WTFover and mschwoeb. Both these folders ROCK and I anxiously await the debut of the Busse folder. Heck I'm hoping it's so great it makes me want to sell my other folders....well I'll probably keep the Sebenza, it's my "gentleman's knife" :D

The SnG is my personal gentleman's knife. It's alot smaller and friendlier looking than taking out a GB or AR.;)

I'm not surprised that we busse fixed blade fans seem to be in agreement on the Sebbie, GB/AR and SNG as the standards in strength in folders. The sebbie is definitely more the gents type folder for cutting and slicing and the GB/AR imho is the king of hard use, do anything folders. I'm looking forward to seeing the Busse folder jump into this crowd :D

Wilco, You've got a Blackwood Curr    may I just say YOU SUCK!!!
hOW 'BOUT A PIC OF THAT BAD BOY???

I've got a Blackwood Grifter in S30V w/ironwood scales. Neil rocks! But there aren't many of his folders out there. You lucky piglet :D

I would also like to add, I see a large difference in folders and fixed blades, as I'm sure most of us do. That means I would rather have a folding blade cut extremely well and have a thin edge, thats not as durable as a thicker blade that doesn't cut as well. If I need a strong blade thats what I use a fixed blade for. Each his own:D

I agree with the choices presented. They're both nice knives.

Now if you can stand the idea of a large barn hinge on your Battle Mistress. . . .I can fix you up in short order. ;)

Buy the SEBENZA!!

The Busse Folder is like the pink polka dot elephant.

I could not disagree more. There are several great folder manufacturers out there.

There are a good many folders out there that are not Striders or Reeves manufactured. I would have suggested the Bradley Alias I, manufactured for Bradley by Benchmade, but it seems to be discontinued. The Grayman Knives Satu is probably somewhat like a Busse folder would be. The Fantoni HB01, a Bill Harsey design is a great stout knife that costs about half of what a Reeves or a Strider costs. Under no circumstances would either the Satu or the Fantoni be considered a "gentleman's" knife, unless you consider Blackbeard to be a gentleman.
