I have had the opportunity to handle one of the new fake Paramilitary 2 that are now being sold. I am posting this thread for the education of bladeforums members so you don't get ripped off. This knife is NOT for sale and no info about were to get one will be shared.
I will start by saying at first glance it does look like a PM2. If you have never had the real one in hand it could fool anyone. If you have handled a real one then you would realize that it is like comparing a Kia to a Ferrari. I will list some of the thing that I have found and post some pics. G-10 is smoother on fake. The no locking side is only milled out at the butt of the knife. I have seen three of the fake boxes and all have date code FL. They are smooth but do not have the bushing system. The box looks 100% legit I can not find anything. Again this is to educate members and posted at a Mods request. Thanks.

While I appreciate what you are trying to do, you seem to be saying the only way to tell a fake is to handle one, for most of us that means buying one

Without additional information, this post does me little to no good.

I have no way to determine a knock-off from a legitimate knife.

Thanks anyway.

The best way to avoid fakes is to buy from a well-known established dealer.

I find this usefull. I didn't know these were in circulation. If you don't buy from an established dealer you are really taking chances. Makes me gun shy even to trade.

The G10 looks like a different pattern grip to me. The font on the spyderco and CPM S30V look a little different too.

Lock tab looks to have a little shape too. I wouldn't be able to notice the differences without a PM2 in hand though.

Well, the spyderco logo on the blade has a dot at the mouth on the fake. On a real blade it has more of a pronounced v shape. The clip on the fake looks like it is bigger and comes closer to the end of the g10 scales. On the real pm2 the end of the clip with the screws is smaller (and there is a closer ratio to the 2 screws and the end that holds them) and isnt screwed as close to the end of the scales. So if that helps...

Thanks for posting this. Seeing that is is a popular knife and with the limited availability, it seems that it's necessary to keep one's eyes open.

Here is a better pic of the non locking side liner. Middle is not milled out. This is the pic I would request if buying one and not sure if it was fake.

Have you had a chance to disassemble the knife? I'd be curious to see the blade tang and any markings on it.

Wow this is all bad for everyone involved. Thanks for the heads up.
