Buyer provides unverified address following payment

Did they contact you outside of PayPal with the different address request, or did they leave their request within a note within the PP transaction? Makes a difference.

Politely ask them to update their account information and see what they say. If you plan to move forward, in this case, definitely keep all your correspondence e-mails. This buyer already errored.

Yep, The Pope said it - positive feedback matters most of all. I'm sure verified addresses matter when you're selling a hundred items a week, but when you're dealing with a longtimer on the forum with a lot of history and good feedback, not sure this is really a factor I'd be concerned with.

This hits it well...
I have sold HUNDREDS/TRADED of items.... Verified I would prefer of course.. Safety Blanket so to speak...But its funny some of the folks I have dealt with many times in the past with not a hitch...Have had verified addresses once upon a time...And show up Not Verified now?? Puzzling.

I would lean and trust the feedback..Ask him/her for references of other folks they have had dealings with in here..If the avoid they subject and or wont provide info or names... I would red flag it and move on..

I have a "confirmed" address, but I'm "unverified" because I don't have a bank account tied to my paypal account.

this is on all of my receipts from paypal:

Get verified – Pay with your bank and you're 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent from your PayPal account. Log in and click the Unverified link below your name.

I have a bank account I opened strictly for PayPal use along with my credit card

Same here. I use a debit card associated with the account, and I try, very hard, not to keep too much money in that there! Too friggin easy to buy!!!!!
I usually let sellers know I need 15 mins to send cash!! Gotta run to the bank!

Ahhhhh, who am I kidding??? I'm still broke.
Ugh

If I know the person to be a quality member here (contributes to actual knife discussion, good feedback, friendly with me personally) I don't mind shipping to an unconfirmed address because I know they are not going to risk their reputation to screw me over on a simple knife purchase. If I don't know much about the person I only ship to confirmed addresses.

paypal is making is hard to confirm addresses these days. I've had my account since they first started, but i have no option to confirm my current address. It's my primary address, my billing address, and i have my credit card linked. Yet my address still shows up as unconfirmed. I buy all the time on here with no issues.

^^^^^That^^^^^

It's annoying for me because I have an address in the USA (family) that I would like to ship to on occasion. Unfortunately PayPal refuses to let people have two addresses in different countries.

When someone is too cautious to ship overseas, they are usually too cautious to ship to an unverified address. I can't blame them, but I do miss out on a lot of knives!

I have both my German addresses and my American address in PayPal

Interesting! Do you remember how you did this?
IIRC I got an ebay.de account and needed a German shipping address so I added one then later I added a second to have something shipped to my home.

I think the difference is that my bank account is American and my primary billing address is American but that is just a guess.

I've had a few people ask me to ship something to a different address before. If it's someone that I'm familiar with, I don't have a problem with it, but if it's a person I don't know, I request that they send the money F&F. They're asking me to give up seller protection, so I ask them to give up buyer protection. Might not be a popular suggestion around here lol, but it's an option.
