I don't know if this belongs here, moderator please move if not appropriate here. How long does a seller in knife exchange usually ship the item after payment is sent? thanks.

I've recently bought some stuff and the longest time I had to wait was about 3 days through USPS, that is shipping from and to the U.S. - Being in your area of the world, I would say the wait may take up to a full 7-10 days. There was some stuff going on in the Philippines not long ago, riots or something. that can slow the mail down a lttle I think. Keep in mind, you are a lot further away than most. You wont get it in 3 days unless you pay like $30 shipping.

Ah I understand, I am used to waiting for up to 3 months for an item but what I meant was is it usual to wait 3 days after payment before the seller ships out the item? I already paid 3 days ago and I still have not been notified by the seller that he has shipped out the item. thanks for the reply.

Hi singularity35 -

Not necessarily from the exchange here, but my experience overall with private internet purchases:

I think most people will send out a purchase the day you make the purchase, but I have had some people that for whatever reason (perhaps they live out in a rural area and only get to town once a week etc.) that only ship on certain days of the week.

Additionally, not everyone will notify you when they ship an item, so sometimes your item may be on it's way and you are not aware of it.

The only way to know for sure is to ask your seller if the item has shipped.

best regards -

Thanks, and I've been asking through PM and I have no response yet. Maybe the delay is just due to unforeseen circumstances with him. It's not such a big amount though but this is my first purchase in BF exchange. Thanks for your replies.

I suspect that part of the problem is he can't PM you back because you're not a paid member.
Try sending an email.
best of luck!

He already has my email address. And we communicated through the visitor message function just fine in his profile page when we set the transaction up. I wouldn't want my first transaction in BF to go sour since I was thinking that my subsequent purchases would be on the BF exchange and no more ebay or local dealership(We pay MSRP or more) for me. I guess I understand why our local dealers charge MSRP sight unseen.

when you look at his profile, does it show he's been logged on in the last couple of days?
We've been having a lot of storms in my area which cuts down on my internet time - his situation may be similar.
just trying to give you some hope that the deal hasn't gone bad. :)

I understand your concern completely. As far as the first experience going bad, I would hope it doesn't. The few transactions I've made on here have been mostly decent. I try and stick with those that have somewhat positive feedback and I can read their posts and basically get a snapshot of what their personality entails.

For me, I like to pay for my item ASAP. I do not like making others wait for their money (I would not like to be made to wait if I were them - The Golden Rule). I do not mind taking that good faith first step. When I communicate with the seller, I do my best to be understanding and ask questions that are important to me, (is the knife beat up? Did a tank run over it?, etc).

When I get my items, I examine and make sure that the item I received is what the seller promised, no more and no less. I like to leave feedback as well, usually positive. In return for my good faith, I like to receive positive feedback (for polite and understanding communication to them and for making my payment ASAP). Mutual professionalism in these simple transactions is necessary, and expected by most. Anything less will leave a sour taste, and should be considered unacceptable.

I'm quite happy now because I have received notice that the item has been shipped already. Thank you everyone for your support.
