Buyers Beware?

I did a search for smoky mountain knife works and got up this as one of the first hits.

Smoky mountain is listed as, I quote:
"Caveat Emptor is a list of 101 businesses that have not satisfactorily responded to the Tennessee Division of Consumer Affairs concerning written complaints submitted by a consumer for the period of July 1 thru October, 1996."
http://www.state.tn.us/consumer/beware2.htm

But that was in 1996, so I guess things can have changed since then...

Dear Cousin: I have been trading with SMKW for many years, and it is my firm belief that thay are one of the most reputable companies in the knife business.Of course, I have no idea what the "Caveat" is all about, but I am almost certain that you will be satisfied with their knives and service. Also, they will sometime offer items that you might not find elsewhere. They DO have a large clientele, and they do run out of advertised items sometime, so don't hesitate when a new catalog comes out, or when a new item hits the website, for they may be in short supply of some items. They usually tell you this up front.I think you'll be pleased with them if you should choose to order.

I have bought from Smokey Mountain in the past with no trouble.

The question I have is, are you posting something negative about the company from personal experience or just making a negative post for the heck of it?

Smoky Mountain Knife.....Great Place...good ole Tennesse boys like myself..It would take you an entire day to go thru the retail store, then the next day to decide what to buy. I always stop in on my way to the Smoky Mouintains......... And golly jeepers, that complaint was from 1996????? Sounds like a good track record to me and was only from July thru October......So, what's the point?

I also try to stop when SB on I-75. Must always take that little sidetrip to SMKW. Have also bought many items from the catalogue with great satisfaction.

I also go to SMKW on my way to Backpack in the Smokey Mts. I have purchased at least 15 knives from them and have only ONE problem with a Boker I purchased. They replaced it VIA mail within 10 business days. I recieved my new knife before I mailed them the flawed one back. I would recommend them to ANYONE who was loking for a fair knife store to deal with.

SARGE: Good to see someone from my area! Good ol Indy

The only problem I have with Smoky Mountain Knife Works is that I don't own it. Damn, they beat me to it again.

Been dealing with them for years (that means a lot of years) although not as much anymore. Great folks with some fantastic deals. Never had a problem. Service was always fantastic.
