Buying a user

It really depends on what you are using the knife for, and what your definition of beating on it means. If you are referring to cutting strings, cardboard boxes, envelopes IMO a para 2 is perfect for that price range. A lot of people are recommending the ZT's for a "hard use knife", but IMO the bulkiness of the blade (or entire knife for that matter) makes smaller things like opening packages or envelopes really difficult.

Well, the OP was looking for "a knife i can beat the hell out of and still know it will work for me the next time i need it". I'm not sure he's thinking of opening packages or envelopes with it but I could be wrong.

Go buy a custom from the custom knives board here. They are often inexpensive and often outperform production knives. Or you can default to Fallkniven and get a knife that outlives you and works better than you really need it to.

Other options may suffice as well.

if you like the emerson it will do everything you want. I have been impressed with my mini commander the more I carry/use it. I like the double v grind on the one you are looking at, easier to sharpen than the chisel grind and your slicing won't go off to one side on tomatoes etc.

another shout out for the lawman, hard to find a tougher folder with a good slicing profile for the cash, love mine as do the 2 LEO's in my family that I gifted to for duty knives

as much as I like my zt200 I find it too bulky and heavy for edc pocket use, try wearing that one in shorts on a hike

Get yourself a Cold Steel American Lawman, or a Recon 1...(I'm a moderator, so you have to take my advice.:D.:D.).

Ok, Im looking for something under 3.7 inches, must be made in usa, must be decent looking, titanium mono-locks and g-10 would be awesome, something with s30v or similar, a sng would be nice but i dont have that much money,

I think you've found your best bet with that cqc7a. My A100 has proven to be about the toughest folder I own, while still being small and handy enough to carry. And the best part; 100% made in the U S of A

Benchmade 14205. Recently discontinued but still available. It has a thicker blade than most Benchmade knives and the AXIS lock is one of the strongest available and very easy to manipulate. Has 154CM steel which should hold a good edge and not as brittle as some other high end stainless steels.

I'm not a big fan of liner locks bit quite a few people have put the Spyderco Gayle Bradley with M4 steel through some heavy duty work.

My advice for any knife that is going to be used hard is to put thread locker on the pivot and adjust it when you first get it. Loc tite is good but I like teflon tape even better. It seems to hold the screw in place better and can be adjusted without breaking the bond and needing to reapply.

You just described the ZT 0300. it is 3.75 inches, made in the USA, alright looking, has a framelock, 3D machined titanium and G10, and is S30V. now, the only question is if YOU can handle IT.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Again, if the OP doesn't want to spend $200 plus then the 0350 is, IMHO, an acceptable alternative even though it's a liner lock.

glockman99 has a great point and especially if you want a blade you forget you're carrying. CS company as has pretty much been the consensus does an amazing job with the hardness and finished edge they put on their AUS8 blades, amazing really, like the job ESEE does with 1095. They get everything possible out of their steel.

I have a large Voyager and a new Recon-1 ~ 4" and 4 1/4" blades. I recently had a relative (wife actually) who was hospitalized and required 2 visits a day and it was a very long walk to get to the very back of the Hospital. I had to have a blade for peace of mind, walking through dark alleys and deserted parking lots and not in the nicest area of the city after dark.

I chose the large Voyager 4" of razor sharp steel, handle sanded under the belt clip for a butter smooth clip/unclip and only a couple of ounces. I never even knew I had it clipped in my pocket unless I was looking for something and touched the butt or when entering an alley, patting on the knife for a little reassurance.

The clip point is light enough, sharp enough and configured properly for EDC or defensive use. I have much better knives I could have used but for the reasons mentioned I carried the lg Voyager for those 2 weeks. Pretty darn good folder for pinned lockback.

Beat the hell out of? Hmm.

Folder. go with a CS Spartan or Kershaw Tremor

Fixed. BK2

All are well priced and tough.

This one I can, titanium liners and d2, no springs just torsion bars (i think), g-10 and all american goodness. :)

We probably have a different definition of beat on. Here's what beat on means to me.
