Buying From Amazon?

I have never bought a knife from Amazon.

But here is the thing about Amazon. When they ship you an item, it comes fast, especially if you select 2 day shipping. And they never make an excuse like: I was in a car accident, I was deployed, my wife is sick, our baby was sick, and so on. And you can always check on a slow shipment through the Help Desk or tracking number. They never go radio silent.

So there are good and bad sides to every transaction. Just saying.

I buy a lot from Amazon, and I trust items where the manufacturer has a "store" (like Levi's or Timex), and/or that are "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

I trust them. They are huge and I have never had any problems.

But.

For a knife...something that I enjoy and an industry/hobby that I enjoy being involved with as a consumer/enthusiast...I go with BF supporting dealer members. They can be trusted implicitly and they have great (and personal) customer service.

Very well put.
Also, the money saved on Amazon is usually pennies. I prefer to spend those extra pennies for the service I have gotten from the great dealers, and members, here.
I like supporting the 'little' guys in any industry.

Another thing to consider, is most countries besides the United States don't have very many knife companies. Example, when I bought some knives from a well known american knife site, they say on there website "$9.95 for canadian shipping or something" but that only covers costs to the border lol. When it arrived with me it cost me close to around $50 in total shipping costs lol. Not to mention the shipping is slow because of the distance and crossing the border. It takes more than a month too if I order knives from the US and risk them being confiscated at the border. So, the company amazon who buys the knife directly from the company and stores them warehouses already in Canada I get free 2 day shipping without the risk of losing the knife to customs. So, seems extremely more efficient from me. Even with ordering from a Canadian knife place in BC it is expensive and extremely slow shipping(3-4 weeks to Ontario normally). Just make sure if its an expensive knife, buy it from the amazon corporation directly and not a third party on the website.

I agree with this in general, though there have been a few times I've received Amazon gift cards, and used them to buy knives. (I suppose I could have bought something else, but who am I kidding) No complaints.

I've bought knives on Amazon.
As far as I know, Amazon is owned by, and staffed with humans, so I am supporting my fellow humans by doing so. ;)
I buy from local businesses or small online shops when they have what I want too, but I will not pass up good deal on a genuine knife so I can pretend to be somehow more morally awesome than others.

I also shop at Walmart too! (is my soul forfeit yet?)

Totally soul less Stabby!! How can you live with yourself???

Red flag #1: $75 for a USA made Spyderco that is regularly $100+.
Red flag #2: Not sold via Spyderco on Amazon.
Red flag #3: The wording, pictures, rating (assuming it was there when purchased), and pretty much everything about the listing.

Whoever fell for that listing and paid for that CCC is not smart. Way too many red flags that anyone who buys anything online should've caught.

If you think you can't get a 'fake' blade from a knife dealer, think again! People will buy a knife take out the genuine and return a fake! They get refunded and get a genuine knife to keep or sell! Then the dealer restocks the returned knife and then you buy a knife from them and BAM! You just bought a fake knife! Now I know some don't accept returns anymore, but some still do! I have knives from Amazon and ebay that are genuine, so they are not all fakes. Anyone claiming that is full of manure.

All quality dealers inspect returns carefully to do their best at keeping this from happening.

I have had problems in the past with there knifes , I have had much better luck ordering from dealers direct .

This could happen with any transaction on anything, no matter what you are buying or who you are buying from. That said, the chances of this happening from a legit dealer are near zero. Who you buy from is the biggest factor in if you get a counterfeit.

Amazon actually has teams of people who go through their items looking for counterfeits. They at least make an effort to make sure they are not selling counterfeits purporting to be genuine. I have purchased knives from the dealers as well as from Amazon, Walmart and ebay. So far, no fakes. That being said, the buyer needs to educate themselves on what to look for and if the price is too good to be true, it usually is. I will pay the going price for a genuine article if that's what it takes for me to obtain it.

I have found Amazon does not have good prices on most knives.

Seriously, if you shop forum dealers you can find the same knives for 10-20% LESS. And zero chance of a counterfeit, and easy returns because they are knife enthusiasts.
