Buying knives in Europe

There are enough European knife sellers (webshops) but you would be better of buying from Usa because prices are very low compared to European prices.

Although that's often true it also depends on which brand you're buying. But for american brands that's usually true.

You could check out www.wolfster.de He has a nice range of US and German brands and the rest he will organize for you. The prices are higher than in the US but as you have already said shipping is cheaper and you have no hassle with customs et al.

Good luck

Speaking from experience, just order from the US for crying out loud.
Eat the shipping, eat the taxes (if there are any), and be done with it because you are going to end up paying twice as much if you buy it in your local area. So don't.

Even a german brand like Boker is often cheaper on the bay than here in Teutonia.

That's what I cannot understand. The knife gets shipped to USA, then ordering it from USA back here and it still costs less than ordering from germany. :thumbdn:

Companies in the US buy in bulk. There isn't a big market for knives here, so the European companies buy smaller amounts from the US.

If you're ordering over the internet and in europe chances are pretty slim that you'll be able to do so without credit card. But good luck in your search.

In the USA non-digital transfers are more common. Although I believe In France and italy it's still quite normal to pay by Cheque or money order. You could look at french shops and italian ones.

Just found out if I would order from Knifecenter.com, I'd have to pay $60, plus the price of the knife.

That's insane. Try http://www.nagornys.com/.

If you mail the owner and ask him about it, he'll gladly make a deal. And only charges about $6 for shipping. He doesn't have too much choice of knives though.

I have good experiences with him, fast shipping too.

BTW I've bee told they have never dealt with any money orders outside of the country?

Well that's true, I forgot about that.

I used PayPal, and would recommend that too.

I don't know any knife shops that ship to other countries and take money orders.
