Been looking back at old threads about this, but can't get a clear notion yet.If you wanted an all-around knife that would be suitable for camping, medium chopping, brush clearing and general purpose would you go with the B-11 or the BWM?? I have to decide on a large all-around user that can be carried reasonably easily. I know that there are many others out there, but I have these two and would like to focus just on them. The other one has to go to another home since my daughter is having trouble keeping her head above water. Unemployment around here is about 15%. Everyone is somehow affected by it. Thanks, ahead of time, for your input.

I'd keep the BWM. It Has a better/stronger Tang, and it's thinness is better at brush. It can baton extremely welltoo. Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope everything works out for the best!

ive owned both and kept the bwm.i like the handle on the bwm much better and the weight is not a big deal.just my 2 cents worth.

It's mostly a question of balance. If its primarily for chopping then the B11's forward balance and comfy handle wins. For everything else I'd go with the BWM.

One more vote for the Bushwhacker. But, I am kind of biased toward micarta versus Res-C. I really dont like rubber handles, an aesthetic choice, of course the steel is the same no matter how its packaged.

The B11 is more forward balanced for chopping, the BWM is more neutral balanced (which feels faster and better to me).

And the full tang/micarta BWM is going to take a lot more abuse than the B11.

I am going to go against the grain on this one! I love the Basic 11. I like it so much, that I came to my senses and withdrew my 2nd B-11 on the X-change. If you are really looking to use the knife hard Tret, the Res-C handle is second to none for comfort when chopping firewood. Also, I like the shape of the B-11 in the sense that its almost a machete. The long blade makes clearing pricker bushes, vines, and saplings a breeze. Although the BWM would win in the true full tang department, you never hear of any Res-C knives breaking due to the reduced volume of steel in the tang. Also, I don't feel as bad wailing on knives with Res-C as they were certainly meant to be used. The Bushwacker looks prettier than the B-11, hence why I don't use mine. I hopes this helps bro!

I go back and forth between the two , I find myself reaching for the BWM more than my B11, I love them both, but I like the feel of the bwm in hand over the b11

gotta love the b-11, plenty of blade for chopping. light enough for long distace carry. and you can get the asametric grind.

did i mention it comes in moss.

Its a toss up for me. I love the extra length on the B-11 and the comfortable grip, which absorbs some of the shock from chopping. What I like about the BWM is the larger handle and extra weight which is better for chopping.

I would probably choose the B-11 for a all round camp knife for medium chopping, and brush clearing.

I say keep the B11 and sell the BWM to me...:D

No seriously.. I have no real choice of one or the other I am just saddened that you have to get rid of any Busse product. Hope all goes well in your trying times. Either way someone will pick up which ever you decide to get rid of.

Good Luck and stay strong.

Another vote for the B11.

The BWM is a great all arounder that chops decent. The B11, with more weight forward balance, and comfy shock absorbing handles, and the longer blade will be a better chopper (especially if you have a good edge).

I am a big fan of how the BWM handles feel, and I think if it was a comp finish, it might not be as easy of a decision for me.

The other consideration is what YOU are going to do with it. If you need more chop for your ounce, then the B11. If you need more slice and dice, then the BWM has a taller blade height, and thinner stock.

Also if you need any pommel hammering ability.

Yet another thing to consider is which will be easier to replace if and when you get cash to do so.

I don't really know production numbers,

But it seems like the B11 might be harder to replace right now.

So my vote is B11 as the keeper.

Now it's 7-7. An even fight. I'm curious to see the final score. In fact a poll would be interesting...

Yep!! 7 to 7. That poll thing is beyond my computer abilities though. Just have to keep counting. Thanks all.

Put me down for the BWM. I went through Exactly the same question last week, and I deciced on the micarta handle / exposed tang of the BWM. It got here yesterday, green & black slabs, green blade, it is freakin' beautifu! I have no doubts that this elegant blade will ride well in my pack and have no problem dealing exquisitely with anything I may throw it at.
