C36GTIP First Look - Military, CPM-M4, Ti/G10!

I just read that the 2nd batch would be about 1 1/2 weeks after the first one. So, it's waiting time again ~;- 0

I'm expecting mine today.

Who is actualy going to use the M4?

This steel type seems to discolour esspecialy when used for food prep.

Honestly, folding knives are not the best choice for food prep. If you're going to use non-stainless steel for food prep on an ongoing basis, you're going to either have to live with discoloring or take care of the blade. My kitchen knives that are not stainless do show "discoloring." It is a sort of badge of honor...if they did not show discoloring, it would be because they were not being used.

As long as you wash / wipe it down after use it will be fine, keep it oiled if you are really concerned.

Fwiw I've no problem with a natural patina developing. My M4 Bradley has never been re-oiled and developed a patina over the course the year but I havn't really been that fussy looking after it.

I've actually carried and used mine since it arrived, albeit for small office tasks (cutting zip ties off paper packages at the copying machine, etc)
no patina or rust so far, but no food prep either, I have my FFG Pacific Salt for that

That and the issue of food residue accumulating around the pivot. With Spyderco's new policy that disassembling the knife voids the warranty I would not use any of their folders around food.

We used the M4 Mule in the kitchen for over 6 months. My wife doesn't clean her utensils very quickly, so it did get a gray patina. But it never showed any rust or real corrosion.

I've now taken it out of kitchen duty, but have used my new M4-Ti Millie to cut food. Just be careful enough not to get "gunk" near the pivot, then WIPE IT OFF! ;)

Yep, the bold underscored part of your post is why I personally think folders and food are not a great habit, but as always in this world, YMMV. Just don't complain about the results. :D :D :D

My knife cleaning practices were revolutionized, by the way, when I bought a small shop compressor. I have found that there's very little dirt that can't be blown out at 90-110 psi. These days I am hardly ever taking knives apart. Obviously there are a host of precautions here so this is not a procedure for the careless or the ignorant. :(

I have kitchen knives for that type of work. Kevin Wilkins. :)
But, any port in a storm.

I was lucky enough to get one of the cancelled orders, but instead of coming today, a regular TiMil came by mistake :(

KW is sending out a return label. Hopefully my G10/Ti one wasn't shipped to someone else by mistake (the rep hung up before I could ask).

On the plus side, the I was a little concerned about the weight of the G10/Ti Military, but even the all Ti version doesn't feel heavy

Well since sal has already done an S90V Military maybe they will at least consider a run of standard liner lock Millies in CTS-20P :D

Used mine outdoors for hours today. Cutting up an old tent, wet ropes, wet tall grass, old boxes, etc.

Wiped off the water when I was finished and wiped it with a little Rem-Oil. Shines like new.

There is a rumor of a Ti/CF/S90V cousin to the C36GTIP... :foot:

I'm all over that one. Time to ping Tom Berry then :D

I think this one is supposed to be another dealer-commissioned offering, so Tom may not get it...maybe it's time to look at the collector's club again? :D

I'm not sure of using it. It might leave my place soon again.
For now, its a beauty.
