Cabela's buck 110 in s30v

Well, I ordered the S30V 110. Couldn't stand Buck making a 110 in a steel configuration I didn't have. Really, they just forced my hand. :D

In the past Buck has upgraded the blades on their 560 model using the same variety of blades as used for 110 upgrades. The 560 used the same blade as the 110, but had a thinner and lighter titanium handle. I have one with a BG42 alloy blade and I have seen them with ATS-34. The 560 is out of production, but you might find a 560 on ebay or at a pawn shop and get Buck to upgrade it for you. My 560 fits my needs better than a Buck 110. Here is what they look like:

I sent in a 560 in for a BG-42 blade swap just last week. Joe Houser emailed me that he received it, and let me know it would probably be done and ship by the end of the week. It amazes me that as Director of Consumer Relations, he takes the time to correspond with an individual customer about the receipt and progress on a $35 blade swap, which I seriously doubt makes Buck much if any money. I've had good dealings with other American knife manufacturers, but even then I've found it necessary to be persistent and assertive. With Joe, HE takes the initiative to contact you. That's really good CS, IMHO.

Is the 110 the only one they do regular custom work on? If I could get a slightly smaller knife from them, that would be really cool.

I'd love to send in my Buck stockman and Cadet to get some better steel blades.
