CAD Software

Works great. I have some learning to do, but it works fine. I did burn the disc just in case.

I just emailed David for the download password. Looking forward to getting this & begin learning to use it.

Thanks David.

I may need some help on this one. This was e-mailed to me.
I need help. I have the 6 cad saved and I downloaded and ran Winrar and Daemon but when I double click on the individual files and enter the password nothing happens. What am I missing?
Safta, any ideas?

First, if they have Winrar and Daemon Tools already installed, just right click on the first .rar file named "Knife Draw.part1.rar" and select extract here, youll have a password window open to enter the password Dave gave you, then a winrar progress window will open up and it will extract a file into the same folder you have those 6 files saved to. You should see a new file named "Knife CAD.iso" and it should be 630MB in size. Now open Daemon Tools(Im using Daemon Tools Pro instead of Daemon Tools Lite might be slight differences but will still do the same thing) if Daemon Tools Lite opens a window go ahead and close it youll see the Daemon tool emblem in the taskbar(lower right hand corner of your screen) left click that emblem and youll see a selection named "Unmount all drives" and then either 1 or 2 virtual cd drives first click unmount all drives to make sure you dont have a file already loaded, then select the first drive, youll have a "open file" window pop up then select the newly created iso named "Knife CAD.iso". At this point it will either autorun and youll see the OMAX splash screen come up asking you to install or if you have autorun turned off open "My Computer" and under "devices with removable storage" youll see an icon that says OMAX CD either double click it or right click and open it, then install OMAX.

I hope these are thorough and easy enough to follow, if anyone needs more help just post it here or email Dave and Ill do my best to help.

Also, if you're running Vista 64-bit (maybe 32-bit also) you have to disable User Account Control in the Control Panel. Go to Control Panel, User Accounts, then click Turn User Account Control on or off. Uncheck "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click OK and reboot. Installs fine after that.

Nevermind, thought it was working but then it failed....<sigh>...back to the net....

Teksec are you getting any kind of errors? or is vista not letting it install? giving some kind of improperly signed driver error?

I get an error that says it's not compatible with a 64 bit system and then a popup that says "WinExec failed: return=216". Then it just closes...

Dave,Thanks alot for letting me use this software! No limits to what you can do.:eek:The parts you cut me look outstanding.:DI'm now a better knifemaker.

Thats weird vista64 should still emulate it even if its not 64 bit. sounds like your download somehow got corrupted

From what I gathered on the net it has to do with the installer not being 64 bit compatible. download worked fine, burned the ISO to a CD instead of installing direct to HD...maybe I'll try that next.

You'd think that vista is backwards compatible for just about anything, but whadda I know:thumbdn:

I couldnt find it on the OMAX website but after searching the disc I find that it isnt Vista compatible, if you decide to "downgrade" to Xp make sure you can find xp compatible drivers for your hardware before you install xp

Gotta love Microsoft...you want to get the speed demon laptop and then find out it doesn't work with everything you want to :) Thanks, Safta!

Yea I guess thats why microsoft is already replacing vista with windows 7 in a year or 2.

Downloaded the 6 .rar files
(tricky figuring the download site-too much flashing crap and not enough instructions-but very simple)
Extracted to .ISO (bad download on file 5 - had to repeat the download)
Burned to CD
Installed on Hard Drive from CD
I fiddled a bit and it seems to work using Win XP Pro

Now to learn it all...

Thanks Dave

Safta - thanks for that link to WinRAR - I really needed that for other files too.
