They did that because people were complaining the handle texture combined with the tight clip ate pants pocket corners. I like the clip tighter myself!

I can't understand why Benchmade doesn't make the black coated, standard edge 551 Griptilian a regular full-scale production item!

Ive broken 2 griptillians one i broke about a half inch of the tip of and have relegated it to using it to help scrape things and light cutting duty and then after i took it with me to Whitesands NM it got some of that world famous white sand in it and even though ive ckleaned dissasembled and cleaned yet again that infernal axis lock has creep and is stiff.
The second knife i was using to baton and it took about 3/4 of an inch of the cutting section of the blade and for some reason the m,echanism is stiff on this one 2 i dont know why it just is.
The second knife was borrowed from another soldier and subsequently traded for a non broken knife (if i break it i buy it) but i'm never getting another one. other than balis i doubt ill ever get another benchmade in my life.
