Hey guys,

I need some help. Im in the final stages of deciding on what I want for a vest.

I've got two plans,

1. Get the HSGI Warlord V4, keep my essentials in there, and add on a first aid kit when I get the extra money.

2. The TT Mini Mav, with a 5.11 6.6 Med pounch and a TT double mag pouch, used for a mulitool and TK10.

What I need help with is, will the 5.11 med pouch double mag pouch and Max coccoon pouch all fit on the Mini Mav.

What I ultimately want to do is rig something up that I can keep essentials on me at all times. Fire, first aid, shelter, water and signal/navagation. They both are going to work, but if the mini mav route would work, I would like it as its cheaper and I can pick up the M1X next chance I get.

I dont need alot of room, actually no more than some stuff you would normally carry on a belt. Survival kit, light, multitool, firstaid. I just want it in a platform, that easy to acess and simple. Something someone else fan figure out.

Anythoughts on what Im trying to do here, any sugestions Idea's would be great guys, thanks a bunch.

Doood,
gotta agree with Munky88. Load that thing up and it will flatten your hooters on a long march, straight away.

Seriously, knowing nothing about those two but having just acquired a different one the other day - I'd go with Door #1. The Bra just does not look comfortable to me, I also hate the placement and seemingly cheesy design of the buckles-straps that hold that sucker up.

The other looks to be well designed for load bearing comfort AND gives you lots more options. I always want options. Options are good. Good luck and let us know what you do and how you like it.

PS - Are you limited to only those 2?

I don't know, that tactical sports bra looks awful freakin' sexy. Gotta get my wife one of those.

^ yes, a bunch of use have ditched the pack and gone to chest rigs for our gear.

FONLY, you know i have both the Warlord and the Mini-Mav panels. Over the last few months of wilderness bushwacking, the Warlord has proved (to me) to be the top choice. It can carry a lot if you need it to or just the essentials. I like it best though because of the fold down Admin panel that houses the maps. Its FAST to access your map and compass and plot a course, as the panel sits flat when open, held up by paracord struts. The pockets behind the Admin panel hold a 8" x 6" tarp, garbage bags, heat sheet, woolie gloves, bear control kit, etc etc etc.

look back at my old thread on it, its here somewhere > (how do you haul all your gear)

Just checked out the thread thanks.

That looks very cool. Unfortunately I tend to sweat profusely with just a 40l pack on my back, I think thick insulation front and back like that rig would have me overheating within the first hr of hard walking.

Very interesting setup though.

I like the fairly light weight Hunters vests with the shot shell loops and stuff. Many small bottles and tube for gear will fit in the shell loops. They also have plenty of pockets and a game carrier on the back, plenty of ventilation. If it is colder, I can just throw a sweatshirt under it and I am set.

Yeah, some of you are right, they are also cheap.

freggin awesome guys, thanks.

Its going to be a bit of both, will carry some extra duty gear (mags, ID, other mission essentials)

And also for my own use. I would like to carry it above my bas layer of clothing, and then just unzip what ever coat I have on to access the contents. That said, when winter hits, It will most likely but out in the open.

Thanks a bunch guys, I need this info bad. I'll be ordering it tonight, get it in a couple days I hope for a mock search, perfect time to test it out.

Mneedham, that would work if it was not so bulky at the bottom, I was looking for something that rides high, and is form fitting.

Thanks for the pics though, if It were under different cirsumstances that would be the one for sure.

This is the Main one I have now, this with my FalconII works great, but I was hoping to retire this, and just carry some basics on me.

There are a few things about vests that irk me. 1, the obvious rediculous tacticool look. 2, how do they wear loaded with a pack? that you just don't know. It may be uncomfortable as hell once you throw a 60 pound pack on over it, or worse yet the shoulder straps ride on a pocket. 3, breathability. My back already sweats like crazy on a warm day with a pack on it. How will it do when suffocated by nylon? If I got some sort of load bearing vest it would be a fisherman's style, probably a Kakadu-with 5 or 6 pockets up front and light canvas material or mesh back.

Well, couple things to this.

1. Dont care about the look, I could wear pink while on duty, but I think that would turn more heads.

2. I've allready warn the other vest with a pack, it I rides fine, if you vest and pack have enough padding your good. Also, dont have a 60lbs pack, so I can't say about that.

3. about the sweating, not much I can do about that, again, I need something that works, if that means I have to seat a little more, and drink a little more water, than so be it. I would rather have the essentials and be a bit sweaty than dry with out crap to keep my alive.

I did however try the Fishing style vest, and that worked well. The only thing was it was hard to place gear, a radio, and other implements could not be added on to the vest, and I was stuck with the pockets it had, it wasn't really set-up for military use after all.

Wait, you're looking for a military duty load bearing vest? And your body armor isn't covered in MOLLE straps? And you're carrying less than 60lb? lucky....

Thats right.

I do my part in canada, and I stay here. While im not over in Afghanistan, I still have a part to do here. Combat Armor is not needed, but what is needed is something to carry my essentials for everything from Training, to Providing my skill's in a natural disaster, or a run of the mill SAR mission.

So in other words, yes Im lucky.

That Delta 5 looks promising, looks like I need to do a bit more digging.:D
