^ buddy just ran through his own pepper spray cloud

I did get a taste of it.
But if you can't handle a bit of your own pepper spray, don't carry it. ;)

This... That location was NOT what one might call sheeple friendly. Ho ho.

Tim Horton's probably would be considered such though...and when I was following up on the Christmas Knife Exchange, there were three of us in a Tim Horton's with a table of knives.
One of which was a machete with a 13 inch blade.
You know what happened? A guy came over and asked if he could borrow a knife. :)
True story.

So I still maintain that those of you getting negative reactions are gathering them yourselves; the knives are just there too.

I think once or twice years ago (a looooong time ago) I used the word 'sheeple' in posts, but later I felt really stupid about it. The word 'sheeple' implies a sense of superiority in the person using it which, IMO, is ignorant. If someone wants to believe that 'sheeple' refers to the 'unwashed masses' who are afraid of/nervous around/ignorant of guns/knives/etc., well, that word can also apply to plenty of other things, too. It can also refer to anyone who mindlessly follows the rhetoric of 'liberal vs. conservative'; those who fall for the 'us vs. them' mentality; those who would rather be lazy than keep fit, etc. I used to know a serious gun and knife guy who said that any and all martial arts training is a bunch of crap. Not much difference between that and someone who tells you that "carrying a knife is useless, because nobody needs to go around carrying a knife."

I think calling non-knife people sheeple is foolish. It's a term of derision, of contempt, and shows a certain arrogance of mindset. It's like calling conservative citizens "deplorable" or "bitter clingers." It's not going to win any friends, and may alienate people who are just thinking of entering the hobby, or might have been inclined to listen respectfully.

Even here, in a knife forum, it's not a good idea. Non-knife people come here too, to ask questions, and showing open contempt is not smart when you're looking to expand the ranks of fellow aficianados.

Yep.

Even in daily life, being less "dickish" works best.
I was working at a lab, and was eating my lunch in the lunchroom.
The pork chops had been tender the night before, but the microwave made the one in my luch rather tough.
So I washed my Umnumzaan, and used it to cut my food.

A co-worker came in and asked, "Why do you carry a knife?"
I said, "For this."
All he could say was, "Yeah, I guess that makes sense."
He never thought carrying a knife was weird after that.

Or I could have made a sarcastic remark, and possibly got it so work said to not bring a knife.
I think my way was better.

This is the kind of behavior that gives us all a bad name! Please don't do this... Basically do not use any knife that makes a 'FWICK" around people and you should be OK..

Calling people "sheeple" is a HUGE insult! HUGE!

How can folks be so insensitive to the feelings of sheep?
Just like calling people "snowflakes" completely dehumanizes winter storms.

When will this madness stop?

I think we live in a time where we worry far too much about what someone else says about us and not what our own actions say about us...
But, I'm and old fart. I suppose "sheeple" isn't nice in the truest sense of being nice. It certainly isn't very conciliatory.

As grandpa used to say, "never burn the bridge you cross to get to your whiskey"...

When he opens the knife, there's no skull/window breaker; there must be a second mechanism to pop one out after the blade is open...very impractical even for a comic book

In the South if your scared of a pocket knife your a sheep Knives, Guns and Trucks are tools we use to make a living and makes life easier! I can kill someone with a screw driver or a hammer easier than with knife !

I have that knife.
You just don't see the window breaker due to the angle it's held at.
You can see it when it's in the pocket.
If I duplicate the hold in the comic book, you can see a bit of the window breaker, but not much; the comic book isn't that far from reality in that regard.

Of course, you can get a better hit with the knife closed...it's almost like comic books aren't the best source for authoritative data! :D

One of the reasons why I don't carry assisted opening or automatic knives. Even flippers can look threatening to a non-knife person. All they hear is the click and the blade pops out. To 95% of the general population, that's a switchblade. (The first time I saw a Ken Onion AO knife open, I thought it was an automatic, and I've been a knife enthusiast for almost 50 years.) When I'm with such people, I generally open my folders two-handed

There is a skull/window breaker in the last two frames that is not apparent in the first frame.

Where I live handguns are readily available in don Guillermo's basement for half msrp. Just Buying one legally takes months to a year and approval from local PD(which info is dispatched to any emergency call units in the area, usually resulting in a fully armed response team actually destroying frot door and ordering everyone in said home to the floor at gunpoint, including my elderly neighbor with a pacemaker.) Even so, organized gang "hit crews" prefer to use hammers to bludgeon their victim before throwing him into the trunk of a car. Needless to say, once my home sale closes I will be moving to a less violent and less restrictive state

The sad thing is, (and I'd bet my top secret Quartermaster on it) That the man assaulting the van is a member right here on Bladeforums.

Well, sheeple is now in the dictionary...

Definition of sheeple

informal

  1. : people who are docile, compliant, or easily influenced : people likened to sheep James Nichols, who ran the family farm here, stamped dollar bills with red ink in protest against currency and told his neighbors that they were “sheeple” for obeying authority like livestock. — Sara Rimer and James Bennet

No mention of guns or knives though. ;)

I like Spydies for same reason. I also respect my companions heritage by not using desert camo hats/handled knives if they happen to be middle eastern; seems to remind them of Iraq invasion which to them is bad. My family, however loves the pattern and appreciates gifts of said pattern

As long as the artist isn't! I'm sure his memory was at fault in this case

Not going to invoke moral superiority against him, but setting aside the arguments above about flies preferring honey to vinegar, arguing with neighbors is self-defeating. I think it's even in the Bible, but can't remember exactly where
