Caly 3.5 - just about the perfect EDC?

Might I ask what you used to sharpen that? ZDP can be a slight pain sometimes.

Sure thing:

Atoma 140 on an Edge Pro
DMT Coarse free hand
Shapton Pro 1000
Shapton Pro 2000
Shapton Pro 5000
6 Micron DMT paste on strop
3 Micron DMT paste on strop
1 Micron DMT paste on strop
0.5 Micron diamond spray on strop

The key is a tight progression through the grit sizes. The Shapton Pro 1000 really helps out.

Ok…reading the forum I’ve been convinced that a Caly should be my next knife. Was leaning toward the 3.5 until I saw a Caly 3 Super Blue at a super price; ordered it. Now I’m convinced I should get the 3.5 also, but which one?? VG10 or ZPD-189? Pros: VG10 leaves a little cash for another down the road purchase. Cons: I may have buyers remorse because I do love “sharp” and the couple zdp-189’s I have are deathly sharp.
Someone…push me off the fence!

I was able to handle the vg-10 version and the ZDP-189 before I made my purchase. The carbon fiber really didn't agree with me. It was way too smooth and offered little traction if any. Which sucked because I like the "look" of carbon fiber and I keep trying to buy a spydie that uses it. Once I get it in hand I always change my mind and go with g-10. Good luck.

I love my cf-189. The caly 3.5 is appealing on so many levels. I really want the vg-10. Model. It's on my top 10 list of new spydies that I plan on getting. So many that I want, must have!! My precious!
