I love my Delica 4 FFG as an EDC. But I'm looking to add a similar, yet higher end knife to the rotation. Still I have to wonder if the Caly 3.5 is going to be a good fit. The Delica 4 FFG hit out of the park for me. It's a little hard to imagine a knife that can match or top it. What do you guys think? Is the Caly 3.5 another winner lurking in the bushes?

The Caly 3.5 is pretty long, I'd say the Caly 3 is more similar to the size of the Delica :)

I have all three and I would reccommend either the spyderco sage 1/2. Just my opinion though.

Slightly longer isn't an issue. I'd actually solve my one qualm with the Delica if the handle's a little longer. Namely my last finger not having good purchase on the rear of the knife.

I have both a 3" and 3.5 caly, the ergos are AMAZING! If you love your delica, you'll fall head over heels for the caly. Its like a glove that is molded to your hand it fits so good. Damn, now I'm gonna take mine out and carry it for a while :)

According to the Spyderco website, the Caly 3.5 has a handle length of 4.3" with a blade length of 3.5" (3.125" cutting edge). The Delica has a handle length of 4.25" with a blade length of 2.875" (2.563" cutting edge. The Endura has a handle length of 5" with a blade length of 3.75" (cutting edge is 3.438"). Personally, I would go for the Caly 3.5, best blade to handle ratio. From what I have heard, its a winner. For you, if your looking for a little more purchase for your little pinkie, you might want to keep looking.

The caly 3.5 packs a > 1/2 inch longer blade into a handle just slightly longer than the delica, plus it's got the finger choil for extra grip length. No, its not at all to close to your Delica for you not to enjoy, quite the opposite you'll love it I know!

I love my 3.5, very ergonomic handle design, should be long enough for most anybody if you use the choil. It and my BM 940 are the only knives I rotate for EDC.

Get the Caly 3.5. It fits the bill perfectly. Light, great slicer, great ergonomics, thin profile. You won't regret it.

Delica 4 was my first Spydie.
I was impressed, & decided to go upmarket with a Caly3 CF zdp189.
The Caly is a little beefier in blade & handle, but not seriously longer than the Delica.

Quick and dirty pic I just took to post to this thread as a reference. The Caly 3.5's handle is maybe 1/4" longer than the Delica4 but it should fit perfectly because it has the choil and the D4 doesn't. That allows you to move your hand up one finger-width and should accommodate your pinky finger just fine.

From Top to Bottom: Caly3 G10/VG10, Caly3.5 G10/VG10, Delica4, Chaparral Carbon Fiber/CMPM S30V.

^^^^ You and me both. I have a Caly 3 CF ZDP, and would love a 3.5 SB. Caly, Stretch, and Para 2 have the best ergos of all my knives. Delica is not bad, but Caly is a step up, and fit and finish is an improvement from my examples.

If it helps, here are the 3 and 3.5 with a PM2

Cheers,
Adam

Love the Caly, don't forget to check out the Stretch too. Handle is just a hair bigger than the delica, ergos are perfect and the blade is a SICK slicer. It looks WAY better in person than on camera IMHO. happy hunting!

Caly took the prize for the favorite Spyderco EDC on an informal poll I saw done on "another forum" recently. That says something. I was surprised.

The Caly 3.5 is Spyderco's best edc knife imo

I when both the Delica and Caly 3.5 are closed the Caly is maybe 1/16th longer, and has a much better handle to blade ratio.

If I wasn't into knives I could honestly say I would be happy with just the Caly 3.5.
