Camillus! Definitely under-rated!

So we can asume that any knife made by Camillus including camillus is only going to go up in collector value. Maybe they should go in the safe.

I'm kinda glad you had those gaudy handles replaced, Elliott! They would help you find the knife if lost, but they are hard on the eyes! Only my opinion!
Real nice peanuts 1Fartsmella!
Thanks for the Bucks and TL-29s everyone!

I knew they were butt ugly when I ordered the knives, Charlie, but it wasn't until I received them that I realized just how ugly.

Fortunately the remedy has been more than acceptable and the steel is excellent!

I'd have sooner given 'em away than have kept them as originally received. :p

there are so many of them i think only models that were limited edition would be valuable

This is my only Camillus. I remember how excited I was when I got it at scout camp. It's one of my favorite knives. I love the narrow main clip blade and still carry it from time to time.

Thanks for showing them, and adding a bit of history guys!
This one is too small for my hands, but it was a Christmas gift from a dealer whom I frequented, so I keep it around to remind me of his good nature, especially since he passed away several years ago!

Camillus made most of Bucks 300 Series line-up from the late 1960's when Buck changed contractor from Schrade to Camillus. Buck later taking over a few models beginning in 1985/86 (301,303,309 and 305). Camillus continued with some Buck 300s up into the early 1990s. As example:

Here is a set of Winchester Bucks. Buck marked tangs and Winchester marked scale plate. Both were pre-86 but represent Camillus work. The 311 continued to be in the Buck Dealers list till 1990.

The 329 trapper was a Cami contracted Buck knife that was a SMKW project for 1988.

The 319 Rancher was produced for Buck by Cami from 1976 to a point that it was last offered in Buck Dealer list in 1990. One example in the 319
black sawcut Buck closely resembles one of the first Cami knives posted on this thread.

Other models such as the 313 Muskrat, 315 Yachtsman,321 Bird Knife and others continued in Camillus hands until there contracts were ended and the models retired from catalog. Using the term produced or made may be a little incorrect, as knifes might have been actually "assembled from on hand parts" or were in back-on-hand factory stock in there last years. A few models were assembled or sold as Camillus began the shut down process. Be especially careful buying the large Buck 2000 two bladed trappers in jigged bone. Spring rivets should be SS not brass.

I've been thinking about what has become of some of my favorite knife brands over the years....Schrade....tragic, this was a proud and relibable name for decades, and now, they are made in China, thanks to the new owners. Western, another good knife, and for a while owned by Camillus. Good quality knives, but didn't survive the 90's. Browning.....my parents got me an anniversary commemorative knife for Christmas, and my Mom is really anti-China...asked the rep if it was made in the US, and was lied to outright....there on the blade, and the box, MADE IN CHINA! Plus, they got my initials wrong! SO much for Browning! Winchester moved all of its rifle manufacturing to China, so on principle, I won't buy their knives.

Last night I was looking over one of my folding hunters, and the maker was ground off. I only had a made in the US and a number "1184" to go on, and found it to be a Ka-Bar. Big deal, that grind out canceled any market value.

People do stupid things!

Not true. They opened a plant in South Carolina a couple of years back, and I think they are now owned by FN. If I ever stop buying knives long enough to save some money I'll probably get one of the new Model 70 Featherweights.

winchester doesnt make knives they have them branded with their equity!
And i believe you may be mistaken on the firearms too!
Most if not all of the Gun brand knives were branded and manufactured by companies like camillus, queen, etc. Camillus made knives for just about everybody, when they went under it was a ripple effect through the industry.
A Camillus was my first real pocket knife and 25 years later i still have it.
They are the #1 brand i look for when i'm out( Camillus, Camco, Kent, SwordBrand, Streamline, etc) Alot of Brand Names are mistakenly given the credit of manufacturing when in fact some of us know who really is responsible;)
cheers
