I sent the EDC to Steven Roos (formerly known as "im2smrt4u") today, so you should see it by the weekend, Steven.
Well, I'm donning my Nomex suit, because I have to say that I didn't like this knife at all. I've never owned a folder with a metal handle and, after taking it out of the package, which had been setting outside on my back step, it was freezing cold and all I could do was stick it in my pocket to warm up. I don't think I will be buying any metal handled knives in the future. Which works for me because I'm mostly a fixed blade kinda guy.
After the knife had warmed up, I immediately tried to open it with one hand. That's what you're supposed to do, right? I found it very clumsy to open, even after a number of tries. Ergonomically, this knife is set up completely wrong for my medium sized, short fingered hands. So, that pretty much settled it for me. And please, don't, as someone did recently, anyone tell me that it's "operator error", because that would be pure BS. I am not uncoorndinated or inept at these types of things. I own lots of knives with thumbstuds and I have never had to practice. A number of those knives fit my hand so well and open so easily and naturally, that it seems like they open themselves. I practiced with this knife until I could get it open most of the time, until I sliced the callus on my thumb, and that, I thought, was enough. Why wait until I draw blood, right? LOL
No offense to D. Ralph, but he designed this knife for someone other than me. Every design can't be for everyone. And I don't think a person should have to practice until a knife can be opened without fumbling each time.
I did like the look of the knife, aesthetically, especially the shape of the blade. It also was *very* easy to sharpen on my Sharpmaker and took a wicked edge. The recurve was no problem at all. My 2 cents. Hopefully Steven will find it more to his liking. Thanks again for the opportunity, Dave.
