Camillus EDC Passaround - SIGNUP

Ummm, I was the first on the list. Is this puppy heading back my way? Not that I did not like playing with it but someone else might want to have it for a bit. :D

Got it, played with it just a little,(seems I spray painted my eye at work the other day, so I couldn't really play too much,(ever try to slice paper with one eye:eek: ).

I just sent out the S&W HRT, a similar shaped knife, skeletonized handle, recurve blade, frame lock.

The HRT was too big and weighed too much for an EDC, but the Camillus was a nice size, reasonably light, with a blade long enough to do most medium cutting chores.

The recurves are nice slicers, they tend to pull the material into the blade when you cut,(but man are they a pain to sharpen,(then again I felt the same way about Chisle Grinds at first)).

I'm considering buyin' a Talonite version just to try Talonite.

By the way the knife went out this afternoon to who ever was after me I believe it was Daniel K.

You know it gets harder and harder to pick on knives when I review, the knives above the $50 price range are well made for the money, you usually get modern tactical designs, decent steels, and some nice scale materials. Maybe I need to start checking out some higher end stuff, or just go custom. Yet I love checkin' out knives without having to buy them.

Thanks for the reviews guys, look like I have a couple of passaround
coming inbound shortly.

Got the Camillus yesterday and have already used it a bunch of times to open boxes, carve, slice paper, etc.

From everyone's discussion, I thought this would knife would feel too small. It's not small at all, in fact - it's size could be best described as "appropriate".

I own a number of khukuris that are big and heavy and their size is also "appropriate" for the task at hand.

I guess what I'm saying is, the size was perfect for slipping it in my pocket and making quick work of typical EDC tasks.

The pivot is not loose enough to truly one-hand-flip-it open. I'm not sure if Dave wants it that way, so I won't mess with it. If it was mine, I'd loosen it up a tad.

The 154CM edge is nice and hasn't lost any sharpness it seems.

As expected, I really like the recurve on the blade. Very nice!

I think I'll end up getting one after all - though probably in talonite.

I'd still prefer my SwissChamp XLT as an EDC, but I'm admittedly strange...:D

I'll run a couple of more tasks this weekend and give a full report on Monday.

Thanks be to DaveH for letting me in at the last minute of this passaround.

Dan, thanks received the EDC back today. Yeah the opening is stiffer than I remember might have to go torx wrench. (COuld be iffy the pivot head looks pretty rounded already)

Anyway Thanks everyone!
