man they have slooooooooooooow sevice-sent a dominator back because the blade was never centered and i couldnt get it to center-they said 3-4 weeks for service -well its 4 weeks now and still no knife-:jerkit:

i like the idea of supporting local companies(i live about 10-15 miles from the factory) but this is just plain bad service

i just sent mine in and i'm really sorry to hear of your situation 'cause
mine could take as long. i didn't mic it but i wonder if the holes in the frame
that hold the axel (sorry i don't know what the proper term is)...maybe pivot shaft, are off just a hair. we'll just have to wait and see what the tune-up
looks like AND how long it lasts. it would be a shame to have the blade wear
to a off center position, as the teflon washers/spacers wear.
nice knife, just wish it wasn't so far away from my pocket, as well as my money i paid for it. to the nice folks at camillus this is the crux of our impatience, i'm sure your well aware. my wish for your repair dept. is to have
2 old pro's come into the dept. and help eliminate the backlog and return to
retirement, ready to help out, if you get so far behind, at any time. short of that, management could just send us new perfect replacements. ( i did say wish earlier) i know, i know, good work takes time. experienced craftspersons, do not grow on trees!
with all that in mind...please take your time and send out tune-ups that are as good as they get, 'cause i don't want to go through this separation anxiety again.

Well, I am planning to buy one soon, and the bad news is, I don't live in USA, so if there's anything wrong, it'll take months at end to get a reply! is it?

Camillus replaced a damaged BK-9 for me. It took them a few weeks for the turn around, but i did get a NEW knife.

Later...........sd550

If they tell you it is going to be 3-4 weeks and it has been 4 weeks then you might want to give them a bit more time. I am not a fan of how they have treated these forums and the treatement that the Collectors Club people have gotten is beyond belief but your wait hasn't been bad yet. Have you called or emailed them yet? Might help. Good luck hope they get it worked out it is a great knife.

I agree. Why not just phone them up and see what's going on?

rosconey-Please send me an email with your full name. I will be at the Camillus factory this week and I will check the status of your knife. Maureen handles the repairs and I will see if something can be done.

call me funny-but turnaround for service on a item made of so few pieces is not good-im a 1 day post office trip, for those in other places add in the mail time and its hard to imagine spending so much money for such service-

my daily rant-

i really liked it as my edc

tom williams,
thank you for any help with this issue. rosco, tom here gets 'angle of mercy' status. tom, why doesn't the factory send out blown up diagrams of the knife,
so we can fix them ourselves, like chris reeve does? that way, those of us that are handy, could lessen the work load. i asked before i sent mine in and no,no don't do that, was maureens' reply.
i guess what i'm saying is lets work to elimate the long wait for all of camillus' faithful clients. put another way, (just to be clear) when you buy a premium product, because of it's excellence, you want/expect excellant service. like rosco pointed out earlier, so few parts...lets not even get into how the factory shipped these items in the first place.
in conclusion, i will inform you all, when my knife is returned and how satisfied i am with the repair. does the management of camillus read this stuff...i don't mean to be disrespectful, but your taking some gas over this quality control issue.

If i buy a knife that i really like and it's from a reputable company like camillus i always buy two and if one ever breaks the spare is available untill warranty repair is made. then again if i use a knife really hard and have it for a year before it breaks i never seek warranty repairs as i feel even though it has a lifetime warranty that i have got my money's worth out of it and out of respect for these companies that offer these warranties i just buy another knife. A $50 knife can last a lifetime but if it's used really hard and it last a year thats $50 worth in my opinion!

if i had that kind of cash, i'd go for a sebbie. i figured with my dominator purchase, i'd buy the best,(i could afford) cry once and be good to go. i have rarely, if ever, used up a quality tool, in a short period of time. if i see it getting used up too fast, it's the wrong tool for the job and i find the right one. i agree that the lifetime warranties are B.S. for the companies and it contributes to the closing doors of good companies. i support camillus with my purchases. there are other quality makers out there to chose from. maybe it should be called customer support.

Question: how far over does the frame go over the base of the blade at
lockup on the dominator? 1/2 the blade base thickness, 1/3...
your observations, please. anyone know what the spec. is?

any amount over works i think-as it wears it will go farther-
i also have a small sebenza -i shipped it to crk for a tune-up and it was rerouted by the post office, took 15-17 days for a trip i paid for to be done in 3 days-i still recieved it back in less time than this has taken-
now you want to talk great customer service just ask anyone about crk

In my own personal experience with Camillus customer service, and contacts with Maureen, I have found none better at addressing my problems.
As a result of their prompt actions, I went out and immediately bought another of their products.
To me they rate very highly in customer service.

took 5 weeks but i recieved a new dominator last friday-its flawless-and has a high polished blade instead of the tumble finish-i do like the blade polished-
