for what ever reason i like camo, i like the geen, tan, black the best. So cast your vote. Camo on gear ( wallets, knives, flashlights etc...) cool or not cool.

Cool, if you are in the woods, coming from the woods, or going to the woods. Okay, if you are doing hard physical work and don't want to get your good clothes messy\dirty. Uncool, the rest of the time.

i think it looks silly, unless you're in the service, or using it when it's applicable (like in the woods). just one guy's opinion.

I vote "Not cool".

I prefer muted drab colors to minimize the visual impact of my gear, but actual camo patterns scream "Armyboy Wannabe".

Just my thoughts,

I like the look of it, I just don't want people to think I'm a military/paramilitary wannabe. But I do own a basic cam jacket I got from the Army/Navy surplus store, and it has worked well as an emergency jacket (just thrown in the trunk). It was, however, 12 bucks. Other than that, I pretty much try to avoid it.

On girl's miniskirts and other apparel, however, I like the trend. I think mainly because it's cute, and girls are never taken to be army wannabes.

I like it, my wardrobe is made up of earth tones anyway, I guess you could call me a wannabe, I tried to join the Marines in HS but Asthma forced me to be dropped before i even got to meps. (got a 99 on my asvab though)

Camo clothing: only in the woods or at the grocery store on opening day:D .

Camo gear: Absolutely, positively, without any exception NO! Only trolls wear camo in public (excluding of course military and chicks (must be done properly)) The idea of a camo flashlight is stupid because the excessive amount of light coming out of one end kind of makes it stand out (plus, have you ever dropped a camo flashlight in the dark). Camo knife: you shouldn't have it out until AFTER your prey is dead (btw, if your hunting something with a knife as your primary weapon, it better have bad vision, so camo boar knives are a no as well). Camo wallet: maybe, just so the wife can't find it;) .

P.S.: Earth tones on the other hand are 100% A.O.K. It's nice to be able to look suave in public places, then instantly become invisible against the treeline!

Guess I'm just a wannabe...

I wear either a Dutch camo goretex raincoat or a Falklands issue Brit. camo overcoat to work in bad weather, depending on how wet it is... Both have cotton outerlayers and don't shed water on the bus seat when I get up, unlike all that uber-cool North Face type Goretex that leaves a puddle behind when you get off.. Also reduces the likelyhood of the street trash mistaking me for a yuppie! :D

IMO, wearing camo is totally fine, except at the gun range. I rock the camo on occasion, mostly because camo pants usually have lots of great pockets. But then, I am a redneck. (And proud) Nothing says "proud to be an American" quite like camo pants at Wal-Mart. (Or at the bank, or at the office for that matter)

But I would never wear camo to the gun range, guys that do that are creeps. As for camo gear, I don't care for it much. A camo backpack maybe, a wallet, why not. A lighter, sure. But a flashlight, or a gun, or a truck? No sir. Why would you put camoflage on a truck? So the deer can't see you when you're crashing through the underbrush? So you can't find it after you park it? Same thing goes for ATV's. I agree that camo is lame on a knife as well.

But I think when a lot of guys pick up camo gear, they are just trying to embrace their inner redneck, which is a good thing. America needs more rednecks, and less sissies.

One of our officers is a bit of a "cowboy". He frequently shows up at the range in his camo gear.
I always say things like..."Hey, I thought I heard Jones talking..."

I can sympathize with the "wanna-be" military thing because you can tell most of the time the sort that are really like that , like mall ninjas or fat guys that think they are spec ops or something , but I've always dug camo.
When I was a punk rocking teen camo was my choice of pants , I loved the extra pockets and since I rode a motorcycle they were comfortable, I still have sets of BDU's but now only wear them if we go hunting or hiking or camping. I have a camo "floppy style" Ranger hat (dont know what else to call it) that I wear if i'm going to be in the sun , hey it works for me.
BDU's are comfortable , nothing like sitting in a lawn chair by the campfire , sippin my coffee and listening to Art Bell , dressed in my BDU's. :D

Oh , I'll add that I do not like accessories like knives or flashlights or sunglasses in camo , that is overboard IMO
