• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Camp ax I just finished

Thanks, guys!

Omniviking - It's a good stout medium carbon steel along the lines of 4140 to 5160. The ax was used to clear quite a little brushy patch, and it accidentally split a few softer rocks without picking up much edge damage. I'm about to be making more of these out of 4140.

Bigtoof - I don't follow you. You want the handle shortened...why? This thing rocked for what I used it for, namely clearing brush. It would have been much harder with a short handle. For backpacking I could see it, but I made this for myself and the handle length was good. And weddings...you mean the welds? There are no welds. This was made from a single piece with the eye punched.

Here's what I did with this ax and a couple of machetes I made:
