Camp Daisho - sheath pg.2

Thanks again.

Just a quick update with the finished sheath. This was a challenging sheath to make. It's difficult when finished parts have to be attached to unfinished parts.
I like how it sits and I can see revisiting this idea.

Man, that is OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!

Your leather work, IMHO, is at the same level of craftsmanship as your knives......exceptional. :)

Stuart, when you get a chance, please show a shot of the back of the sheath. It appears some hand stitching was necessary on this one?? also interested in the sequence of consruction and attachment of the small sheath.

Thanks!

Paul... I'll try to get a shot a little later but it's not that interesting back there. The basic sequence was to make the smaller sheath first (after finalizing the front panel so I could place it), including all the edges and sewing it to the completed front panel of the larger sheath. The sewing of the perimeter of the little sheath was also how I secured it to the front of the larger sheath. (plus the barge cement). Then I had to put together the larger sheath with barge cement. Then attach the top of the belt loop with cement and sew up to the smaller sheath, leaving some loose thread so I could hand stitch the last couple holes as the machine can't get in that tight. Then sew down around the tip and back up to the little sheath, again leaving thread for some hand sewing the last couple holes. Then cement down the bottom of the loop and same procedure with the sewing. The thinking it through was the tough part... the angles and offsets for the guards and still try to make it look okay... there are ways I will refine the process on a later version.

Cool setup. I love knife pairs and piggyback sheath setups. As an aside, you might want to rethink your model for the action-wear photos! :barf: ;) :D

Stu, you are my hero!

Absolutely perfect Stuart!
Sometimes sheaths can be way more challenging for me to figure out than a knife.
That came out very nice indeed.
