Camp Knife Build

Now that's what I'm talking about! Dibs on one from the next run!

Jared, that looks bad ass!:thumbsup:

Yeah guys, it's pretty sweet material, made by G-Carta. This pattern is called "Starry Night". I already bought the block and sent it to John (he showed it in one of the videos he posted sometime over the past few months, it's this exact block shown in the pics). My Pocket Blade is going to be made from the same block!

Sheldon, iirc, aren't you already one of the dibs on this build?

Jared, I hope so, but honestly don't recall...

So many knives, so little mind...o_O

If my memory serves, I'm pretty sure you dibbed before I did. Redmeadow Knives Redmeadow Knives ?
Yup, I've had you and Shel down as Dibs for these. They're ground and ready for HT, I wish there was an easier way to post a video on here, the pics don't do these justice. I think I'm getting on the right track with things because every knife I make now I think, "Damn, I want one of these for myself":D

Great, my heart stopped for a second when I (re)saw the side profile. Thanks guys, for the 'minder.

You're shooting for what, 61?
That's what I tested yesterday and it worked out great between 60 and 61. The edge showed no effect after a workout on some old branches, new ones, a 2x4 and some intentional glancing blows on a log. As a light camp knife it should serve it's purpose and beyond.

I guess you could call it a compound grind since the majority of the main bevel is flat and it ends in a slight convex towards a V ground cutting edge. That sounds way more complicated than it is. Basically it leaves a little more meat behind the edge than a full flat grind and gives you a leaner main bevel than a full convex with the slicyness of a V grind.

Lol, though that's clear as a bell in my head it may sound like absolute mud to.someone else, let me know if it does and I'll try to describe it better.
