Longbow - That last picture was taken at Thousand Island Lake, on the JMT. It is at 9800', a little south of Yosemite in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Good fishing, too. There are a lot of places along the JMT that offer fantastic fishing. One place is Bear Twin Lakes above Bear Creek (about 500' above the JMT, with no trail - we just saw them on the map and decided to check them out and struck out cross country up the slope). In the largest of the three, about every other cast netted a large fat rainbow or brookie. At the middle sized one, one of the guys in our group was catching trout by dangling his lure above the water, and they were jumping out to grab it. And they were not skinny starving fish, either.

Raindog - It looks like you went fairly early in the season, with that much snow left on Muir Pass. Early to mid July? That stream crossing picture is why I usually like to go later, late July to mid August.

Out of all those pictures I posted, the lowest campsite was at about 6600', and the highest was at 11,600'.

Ok. It's official. This is my favorite thread so far!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the great pics, guys and gals.

How about some more pics of inside the tents?

Thanks!

Lambertiana:
Yeah, we started June 30, because my friend's schedule dictated it. That was the year of record snow in the Sierras, and I think Muir pass had snow until August of that year.

Guyon - The way you posted it, it seems that you are saying you caught those rainbows on the same trip as the crabs and shrimp. Is that true? If so, where?

First time posting pics...hope they come out !

The pics are from a kayak fishing tournament and get-together that was held over at Hunting Island State Park on the coast of South Carolina.

I helped catch the trout, but they are spotted sea trout, not rainbows. As for the crabs and shrimp, those were part of a low country boil (or "Frogmore Stew") that was cooked up by one of the hosts.

Myal - Those pics sure are distinctive, it's easy to identify them as Oz. Red center or the gum forests, both have Oz written all over them. I've never been there, but I have seen enough pictures to figure it out without any text. Make sure you post pictures of northern QLD after your trip. I may never get over there, but it's nice to see backcountry pictures.

What's with the miniature canoe? Looks good, but what's that for? Why didn't you invite me? ;)

Here's a campsite and pics by Webster Pass, Colorado.

This is one of my favorite threads.

I'm getting the itch to camp.

Anyone else have any pics?

Belonged to my Grandpa, sold to me by my uncle extremely cheap, at least 1/5th what it's worth.
Now I just need a speed boat to go with the canoe and I am all set.
Sorry the only knife pic is the old Ka-bar, gave it to my brother (in the straw hat) for christmas.
