Back when camping in the 70s our favorite was Rickets Glen in PA [has 245 acre Lake Jean {only oar/paddle, sail, or electric motors allowed} and great hiking trails with multiple waterfalls].
Bass River State Park in southern NJ was our best/most used as was stationed at McGuire AFB, [has Lake Absegami, a 67-acre lake {also only sail/oar/electric motors}] , (if you can) camp in the old area right by the lake which has more privacy between the campsites]. Also like High Point State Park at Highpoint NJ.
