Camping, knives, fire making

I like the fact that it is probably effective at containing embers but unless you elevate your feet, it is going to prevent the heat of the fire from warming them. Do you use something like a log ottoman for your feet?

Nice outing.
I've been thinking about getting a beater blade for such things.
That KaBar seems to handle alot of abuse.
The Browning is nice too though.
If you could only have one...which one?
Where did you get that Rivers 8 pouch???

looks like a nice trip, it looks like you really put those blades to work!

ammohouse, for what its worth, i have used both and thought that the recurve Kabar blade performed better.

AmmoHouse- If I had to pick between the Browning and the Ka-BAR, well if it was a permament situation IE I will only have one knife for the rest of my life and have to live off the land, I would go for the Browning. I say this because of build quality, the handle really, micarta slabs as opposed to plastic with a hidden tang.

River-8 is a member here, he just posted in the survival outing failure thread, look him up and shoot him an email, if you can't find him send me a PM

DWK2- with the fires I built, plenty of heat was coming through to our feet with our feet on the ground. PLENTY, at times we were about 10 feet away from that ring!

I forgot this one, the Breeden Peacemaker works so amazingly well for shaving wood/fuzz stick making it's ridiculous! the highly polished convex edge slid through the wood like it was nothing, and the handle felt like, well it didn't feel like a handle, just another part of my hand slicing through the wood. I highly recomend Bryan Breedens knives

GREAT THREAD!
Have enjoyed checking out your camping gear and knives, thankyou. Which otter box is that?
