camping SAK

How about a Vic Camper? I like the Hiker a little better, because I need a screwdriver more than a corkscrew.

Of course as BJE stated, the camper, hiker comes to mind. Also a Alox farmer is a about the same size and is a great knife, very solid consrution for a slip joint.
And if you don't mind and additional layer, the huntsman or fieldmaster,if you have need for scissors.

In addition to those Victorinox SAKs already mentioned above, you may wish to consider a number of Wenger choices. In particular, since you mentioned that they need to be "...a pocket friendly size...", you should check out the Wengers that are 85mm long, along with the 91mm Vics already mentioned. I have a few of the 85mm Wengers and they're great (I also have many, many Vics). There are several 85mm Wenger models that have a wood saw, which makes them a very handy camp knife.

Shown below is the Wenger Evo 17, which is an 85mm SAK:

Victorinox makes an 84mm SAK called the Lumberjack that is a very "minimalist" SAK that also has a saw blade, as shown below:

If you want to consider larger SAKs, particularly if you'd like to consider a belt pouch instead of pocket carry, then the field widens considerably. There are a large number of 108mm and 110mm Vics with saws, as well as many 120mm Wengers. Those larger models are great for outdoors carry. The saws on the larger models are correspondingly larger, so they work better on larger pieces of wood.

Shown below is the 110mm Vic One-Hand Fireman model, for example. This is my personal favorite 110mm Vic.

Pluto, I don't think you can do any better than a Victorinox Farmer. That's as good as it gets, and it's very good.

I would go with the locksmith. Locking large blade, saw, file, can opener with small screwdriver, large screwdriver with bottle opener, awe, and phillips. Also toothpick and tweezer.

Since it's for camping, consider the Victorinox Rucksack (if you want a saw) or Adventurer (sort of like a large Locking Tinker). The locking feature gives you added safety, and the larger blade is great for food preparation. The larger size might put you off, but it's really not that big as it easily fits in a pocket. Who knows, the heftier locking blade might give you added peace of mind.

When I remember how I first saw the contoured handle for these Vics in the eighties, I consider it a flash of genius :)

For pocket friendly I like the farmer or the camper and that strictly depends upon whether you think you need the tweezers and toothpick or not. Personally, the tweezers have taken too many splinters out of my hands in the field to not have handy that would required some cutting without them.

My EDC SAK is a Vic Rucksack. I find a saw a must on an outdoor SAK. The larger blade makes many tasks easier. I also much prefer to have tweezers and toothpick. Invisible until you need them, then indispensable. I carry mine in my pocket next to my wallet and can forget it is there. If that is simply too large then I also vote for the Vic Camper or Hiker or Wenger Evo 17. There are several other similar Wengers as well. Any SAK you pick will most likely serve you well. To oversimplify; decide what tools you must have, decide on how many layers (how wide) a knife you want, decide if you need a lock, and your perfect SAK will almost pick you.:)

Pocket friendly = Soldier or Farmer (Farmer is Soldier with a saw.) Alox scales make them thinner. (And IMO easier to clean and a little stronger.) I do not miss the toothpick at all and don't care much for the tweezers. A small pair of pointed tweezers from the drug store works much better for splinters and ticks, etc.

Lumberjack = hard to find collectors item. If I am wrong about this please tell me where I can get one at a reasonable price, it really looks good and I want one.

I have both a Farmer and a Rucksack. It's a tough call. I like the bigger saw on the Rucksack. I really like the awl on the Farmer. As it is, if I feel the need to carry a REAL saw (such as the 3 oz. Fiskars/Gerber slide-out saw) then I'll carry the Farmer. Otherwise, it's the Rucksack.

"Reasonable price" is subjective but you might check with FelineVet over at SOSAKOnline to see if he has any Farmers in stock, or if he can point you in the right direction. :)

Another vote for the Rucksack. I've carried mine canoe camping since 1991 and it's perfect for the job. The saw is great, even though it's only a back up to my Sven saw. It realy cuts wood fast enough to be useful and it's always with me in its belt sheath (cheap nylon pouch from Brigade Quartermaster) but it fits in the pocket just fine.

No Lumberjacks on his website. He sold a couple of really nice limited edition Alox Lumberjacks (I think a total of 250 were manufactured for Swiss Bianco) on eBay a couple of weeks ago, but they went for around $100.

Pocket friendly camping SAK, IMO the best are still Farmer & Soldier.

I'll second the Vic Camper.

The One Hand Trekker will fill the role as well, but I found it to be more comfortable for sheath carry than pocket carry.

I'd go with pretty much any of the choices mentioned. I've been wanting a camper for some time, but I settled on a hiker. Actually, the hiker is probably a little more useful in the wild if you are taking any equipment that might need batteries or be taken apart.
For simple is as simple does, I'd go with the farmer. Stout and compact. A real winner.
For me, I actually like the locking models for camping. I find that a standard Fireman (not a fan of OH tooth's pattern or softness. Plus I have a full serration on the belt cutter blade) fits the bill perfectly. I have enough blade length without having to pack a small fixed blade, it's easy to sharpen, and gives me all the tools that I might need (even if I pack a nice bottle of wine to enjoy with the Mrs.;)). The fireman allows me to throw the tent, a cooler, a hatchet, couple of sleeping bags in the back of the jeep (along with the dog), grab the wife and enjoy nature for a few days.

The Huntsman has what you need for the outdoors. For about the same tools but bigger and with a locking blade, look at the Outrider.
