Camping Soap

I make my own soap and take a bar of that with me. I leave it out in the open after use so it dries out a bit then keep it in a zip lok bag. I use it for everything.
Cooking Tip;
Rub soap on the bottoms and outside of your pans ans when you wash them the smoke and wood stains come off much easier.
No recipe for edible soap yet

I use the same thing the ol' timers used and that is Castile Soap. It suds even in cold water. I buy in bulk and use it all the time. Great stuff nothing fancy but time proven.

I typically don't bring any soap for myself either. I did a NOLS course in the Wind River Range of Wyoming and soap was absolutely forbidden. They are strict "Leave No Trace"rs. So I figure if I can go 30 days without it then a week or less should be no problem.

I normally bring just a little dishsoap for the cookwear (only if I'm preparing meat) and some hand sanitizer.

I use Ivory soap. I bathe in lakes and rivers. Other soap sinks when dropped and they will get dropped. Ivory floats.

Castile is 100% natural...you can actually make it from resources in the wild.

I just use regular bar soap, and carry it in a soap container made for travel.

Dawn Dish soap is enviromentally freindly, and will use that from time to time. Just got some Doctor Bonner's that I'll try out. I like that it barely has a scent but a good natural one at that. Have some Pine soap (Can't remember the name but thats what it smelled like) that I really like. Going to try to get some more the next time I go home for a visit.

I also carry hand sanitizer with me and used it on the last campout. IMO having both is a great way to go.

Lush shampoo bars, either Seanik or Soak'n Float (the latter smells like camp fire, so I rather not use it at home ... ) In the tin Lush sells for those.

As well as putting in a plastic bag i have heard keeping the bar in an old nylon stocking makes it easy to hang on a branch etc.Also if you accidentally drop it (especially in a pine forest)it's less trouble cleaning picking debris off.
