Can I bring this to school?

When the over-zealous are expelling kids for playing cops & robbers on the playground, I would answer with a resounding NO!!!!!!!

Probably not.

Most schools have expanded their "zero tolerance" policies to ridiculous proportions. There was a story not to long ago of a kid expelled under "zero tolerance for weapons" because he pointed his finger/hand at a fellow classmate, made a motion to suggest a gun, and said "bang".

Another boy was expelled several years ago for bringing a plastic gun to school. One might understand this case, some of those plastic toy guns look very realistic, were it not for the fact that the gun in question was less than one inch long and was associated with the boy's new GI Joe action figure doll.

The latest and 'greatest' one I've heard is about some 6 year old in Kalifornia whose parents were called about "very disturbing" material he had brought to school. It was a picture that had been taken with his aunt, who was the county law enforcements firearms training officer, while she had them to the range and was teaching him and a friend firearms safety. The 'case' is still up in the air as to whether he will be expelled or not!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thats just not cool!!
And probably no. In my shcool anything that even resembles a weapon is not allowed.

Things may never get better, but they can always get worse.

let me give you the "pole-up-the-ass authority" answer.

you have no reason to bring this weapon to school, reguardless of it is sharp or not. it does not help advance your education. It can also be used to threaten the students and the faculty. In that, it breaks the safe-school policy. The safe-school policy is in place to ensure that the students can learn safely in a risk and danger-free environment. Every day violence occurs at the hands of an adolescent, and it is unneccesary and intolerable. As a strong supporter of the safe-school policy, we believe that you have put others at danger and have threatened the ability of others to learn safely. thusly, you will be expelled for a set time that we deem necessary, and it will be marked on your police record.

now as you may have noticed, all of that is bull**** considering that your bringing in a BUTTER KNIFE WITH TWO HANDLES. But schools are stupid, stuck-up, and afraid. very very afraid. and it is lame ass.

so I suggest you dont, but you ask if you could and fight what rediculous things they may say.

i got arrested for having something like that out in public, which is why I am going to move to Arizona or Oregon. So I don't think they will allow it in school. But, I did a bring a BM42 to school for a class demo once. But, i had it pre approved by the faculty. And had to let the English teacher keep it in her room all day. Just don't bring it to school though.

I forgot all about the Zero Tolerance thing. I also heard about the kid, making the hand shape gun thing...that sucks...schools are too serious.

What are you thinking, what a dumb question, of course you cant take that to school, what if someone takes it from you and stabs someone else, that is just a really stupid question, Im sorry but it is, wait till you get home to play with it, we dont need another columbine massacre, okay,.

Blademan_007, your response way COMPLETELY uncalled for. What does bringing a completely edgeless knife to school have to do with Columbine? I know that just about anything can be a weapon but it's pretty hard to stab someone with an edgeless knife. If you would take the time to look at the picture you would see there is no point and no sharp edge. I do not think the question was a dumb one but I think your response way uninformed and very rude.

No, this particular practice bali cannot be brought to school and in some schools you couldn't bring a bali-comb because it resembles a weapon. If you are in doubt, take a look at your student Code of Conduct. If you are still uncertain, ask an administrator BEFORE you attempt to bring one in.

Jeez, that butter(fly) knife is less threatening than a pair of chop-sticks. Are they going to have a rule that says students can only write with dull pencils???

Blademan's response was a bit harsh, but he's mostly right. Although I don't agree that anything bad would come from bringing that particular knife to school, any weapons in school are strictly forbidden. I don't even know why someone would ask such a question on this forum, instead of going to a school administrator.

I know I may be coming off as a jerk right now, but schools aren't willing to take any risk now a days, and that knife is still a knife. And you don't need a knife to have an edge to be able to stab someone to death with; that balisong can easily do the job. Pretty much any object, when thrusted, may be used as a weapon. But considering that the knife pictured is actually a knife... I highly doubt that would be allowed in any school.

I agree, this question was really silly to ask here. In order to properly and accurately answer little_chaozu's question, we would have to find out which school he attends and ask his principal if it would be ok for him to bring it to school. Im assuming that his mother originally gave him the ok to bring it to school in the first place.
