Can someone please confirm a Medford rumor?

Which model was that?

Yep, Ernie and the gang are cracking down on the companies/people that are violated their trademark/patent.

Makers have asked Emerson for permission and have been denied on multiple occasions.

If it is patented in his name and he stands to make money via royalties, why would he deny them? I could see him not wanting knives he dislikes to "Cheapen" the perceived value of the wave feature, but other than that why not?

I'm not talking smack, I am just curious as to why he would be so selective.

Darrel Ralph custom Maxx folders have been waved before there was ever a patent.

No clue, but he's denied plenty of custom makers.

I wouldn't call that a wave, although it does ultimately work to the same effect. The wave is a "wave hook," and to my understanding, so long as no one puts a hook on the blade, they can do what they want.

Good to know.

I really wish expensive companies like benchmade or Emerson would let the cheap companies use the axis lock or wave features. Because not everyone likes them and who wants to pay over $100 to not like it when they coulda tried it.

All you need is a Dremel ;)

TFF-3... "bottle opener" though intoxication is not exactly conducive to SPECWAR operations ;)

Good to know.

The "wave" mods you have done and did on the two Karambits in that video are hooks and do violate Emerson's patent and trademark, unless you are not modifying them for a profit and doing it to personal items.

Either you don't understand how business works, or you've never seen a knockoff before.

I stopped doing wave mods for profit over a year ago. Everything I've wave since have been my own personal knives... and any of those that I end up selling always sell at a loss.

When I was waving stuff, I charged $30... shipped!

Phew; good thing I'm covered.

My dremel mods to my knives are for personal consumption only...

As long as you don't start charging people to "pimp" their knives with a modification similar to the wave feature, you will be fine.
