Can someone tell me what my knives are worth?

I just compared it to my LAKE (design) Hanwei forge replica, and it is not the same at all. This one looks legit. Not in great shape, nor does it have an escutcheon, rear bale, or gold pins (NOT to be confused with the Knife Legends fresh new piece), but that could be fixed with a trip to Lake's shop. Shrinkage around the pins?

In this condition: Probably about 5k. I would be hesitant to guess higher.

Story?

This one seems to be very close with the exception of the gold toothpick.
Would love to hear more details on the good fortune.
Paul Shindler could probably give an accurate estimate of it's value.

This one on knifelegends with an Aluminum frame and desert ironwood inlay is $4850. The one posted is definitely a revised version that Ron is known for.

This one from Gary Levine fine knives is $12,000 but it has gold pins and a gold bale.

Are you sure you're not Dave Ellis just being sneaky and showing us your "user" collection? ;)

KIDDING!

Great find. Who gave you this box of "junk"?

Dave,

Take good care of those knives. Just with those 3 you are looking at a very tidy sum of cash.

condition is everything.............those pics dont help a lot either.

They don't....but the Lake is worth more than $5K to the RIGHT person. Not sure about the Minnick.....the Kious and the Jernigan are anywhere between $750 and 1K each.

The negative is timing...there is no such thing as a bad time for Lake, but the market is (predictably) awash with excellent knife values to be had from the other makers pictured and their peers.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Now comes the ineveitable ethical question. Does your friend have any idea that he handed you $7000-$15000 worth of custom knives and what are you going to tell him?

thunderjetdave, I just sent you an email on this: I merged all your posts into this one thread and put it in the Custom & Handmade forum. I also sent you instructions on posting Photobucket pictures.
