Can this be covered under CRK warranty?

CR service is the best. There no automated system, and the first person you talk to when they pick up is usually the last person you need to speak to in order to resolve your issue. Great people over there, I challenge any company to do better than them in customer service.

Why are people who take offense at something someone posted - quoting said offensive words over and over again?

If that is a phrase that offends you, why are you increasing the odds that a search engine will index it as a popular phrase?

Think twice - don't post rubbish and don't quote it either

Really?

Everyone doesn't work with the same equipment. Some monitors don't provide as clear an image. Knowing what we're looking at makes it easier to see what might be out of spec.

Traditionally here we like to see a view like post # 20 for a kind of mental orientation. Snips from different angles make interpretation difficult.

Furthermore, each of us comes here for our own reasons -- not necessarily yours. Even I don't always get to tell people what to say. :)

Esav, somehow I think we are not talking about the same thing.

If something is offensive, if you quote that something, you have in effect repeated the offense.

If that is not obvious to someone, I do not know how to make it obvious without spending more time than I have to put to the task at this moment.

It's beautiful, love it but I noticed the hardware are not the ones that belong to this sebenza (someone correct me if I'm wrong), those pins are from a newer model with the Idaho Stamp on the back scale. How does this affects the warranty? If you are not the original owner and the sebbie doesn't have the original parts on it, your best bet is to get in touch with CRK and seek advise on what can be done. The people at Chris Reeve Knives are Awesome so make the call.

Here are the pics...now that I've read some of your replies, I need to ask one more question in fear...isn't it Sebenza 21?

Yeah, I'm not the original owner of this Sebenza and was little fishy about it...and if you can see in the pics, the blade is polished on hollow ground area while upper area remains stonewashed so maybe original owner sent it in for polish job? IDK.

So the bottom line is I should contact CRK. Thx a lot guys!

No. The warranty does not cover you. It is a tool. It has a nick. What is the big deal? If you want a perfect knife, buy a new one.

You asked.

The first images were just at a wacky distorted perspective :) Made it hard for people to distinguish what they were looking at.

Nice knife.

Oh yeah? I thought I already came to a conclusion 15 minutes before ↑ that. And I agree, knife is a tool. I'm a user. But don't leave out all those artists that create arts in the form of knives and people who collect them. So it's not just a tool like you think. I'd say a $60 knife can be a safe queen to someone. And I'm talking about a $400+ knife here. What are you to say if it's a big deal or not? I will buy new knives so I don't need to hear that from you sir. And since when did new knife = perfect knife?

It is possible to have those pins without the IM stamp.......I beat the you know what out of my large micarta classic chipping ice off a metal door frame during a blizzard so I could shut the door. ( I know, a screw driver was the better tool)There were two gouges on the blade spine worse than your picture and CRK took care of it for me. I don't recall the cost but I think it was handled as part of just a "sharpen". I was so thrilled they made it go away I didn't care if they did charge.
Bottom line: CRK will fix it and if they charge you it won't be much.

I have easily owned over 60+ Chris Reeve Knives Total. Not ALL were purchased NEW, as matter of fact, I would say under 20 were purchased New. With having that many CRK, there is bound to be a warranty issue. The couple I had ( even on used pre-owned knives not purchased new by me ) were covered under the CRK warranty with no questions asked. Two instances, which I will not get into, Mr. Reeve called me personally to talk to me about it. He took the time to thoroughly explain the issue, what caused it, what the solution was, and what he was going to do about it to make it right.

What I will say to anyone that does have a warranty issue of ANY Kind...............Talk to CRK FIRST and give THEM a chance to make it right, before coming to the forums and having the so called experts on the forums and trolls jump on board, many of them that have only ever had maybe One CRK and think they know it all and stink up the place. All of US OWE that to Mr. Reeve. NONE of that is addressed towards anyone, just saying what I have seen over the years.

I agree 100%

I don't think that is a warranty issue, for it probably didn't come out of the shop that way. Try the Flitz suggestion. I have used it on such things and it will make it almost unnoticable. Your only other choice might be to buy a new blade, which I certainly wouldn't do . You can always ask them though. They may be able to do something for you. They are very fair(some of the best service in the business).

I have a non-Idaho Stamp with pins like that. Before they started putting the Idaho stamp on knives they had already switched over to the new pins.

Yes you do need to hear it. You did ask. No apologies from me if you do not like the answer. To be kind, the question was bogus.

+1 ^3. I have had only one warranty interchange with CRK, involving a 15-year old knife. It was handled quickly and 101% to my satisfaction.

Indeed. +++

I know this is not a math forum, but 1^3 is actually still only 1. :encouragement:

I have a question about that blade. Perhaps the OP has already got a hold of CRK but it leaves me wondering about that blackness under the spine.

I've sharpened, dinged etc. S30V and never had it look like that. It's almost as if there's a layer of shiny coating over some cast steel. Excuse my steel ignorance but what would make a mark like that in any S30V steel blade?

In post #25 he said the hollow ground part of the blade was polished.
