Can this be covered under CRK warranty?

ive HEARD that chris himself is not a very friendly man and quite high-headed

Even if that were true, it does not necessarily mean that their customer service is bad. In fact, it is great, as I`ve learned from actual experience.

I have a question about that blade. Perhaps the OP has already got a hold of CRK but it leaves me wondering about that blackness under the spine.

I've sharpened, dinged etc. S30V and never had it look like that. It's almost as if there's a layer of shiny coating over some cast steel. Excuse my steel ignorance but what would make a mark like that in any S30V steel blade?

I could be wrong but its probably just from the photo. A dark shadow/odd angle reflection/etc. Its just a Saturday morning guess, so don't hold me to it :-p

If its actually dark thats another question.

Notice in this pic how different angles lead to different reflections on the surface of the steel?

thats my guess :)

yoo sorry i didnt want to attack anybody( even though i think the only person that could feel offended about my comment is chris reeve..) lol @ dinokay :D
being from germany its sometimes hard to express myself in english.. i dont think chris reeve knives are shitty by any means . i own 2 myself but ive HEARD that chris himself is not a very friendly man and quite high-headed

Eduard, I have heard you are not a very friendly man and quite high-headed but would never say that in public unless I had met you in person for myself. I am sure you are not. I am just making a point to not believe everything you hear.

It's always best to contact CRK(or any other manufactor) about a problem before bringing it to the forums. We will never have an answer as correct as the one they will have.

That is a very, very small spot and I feel CRK could fix it very easy. Great people to talk to, give them a call.

If you don't want to fool with shipping it back just take a UF or fine rod(or stone) and smooth it out. It may make that edge of spine just a tad brighter, but you can do the other side to match. I acually like the look.
I've did it with the edge of some Spyderco spines that were to crisp for my liking. Only takes a few minutes.
