Can we call them Easy Knives?

It's still pronounced

RAT

for me. Uh-seeee or whatever - come on, it will never work no matter how much you try. That stupid name-change made me loose interest.

Just for the record, that should be "LOSE" instead of "LOOSE" :D :D

Jeff,

Why do you still go by "R.A.T' here on the forum instead of changing it to ESEE? I've done some admin work on vBulletin before and know its pretty simple to change a name. I've also seen on the BF "FAQs" that you can request a name change to Spark.

Because we are still Randall's Adventure & Training. We are still a training company first and a knife company second. The knife company is a branch off of the training company, not the other way around and I have been on here for years using the R.A.T. because we are who we are. I thought about changing my user name to Warren Zevon then realized there was a famous musician that had that name already.

Whew!
For a second there I was afraid you were going to change your name to Dweezil!

...and ESEE is a South American acronym for it....so what's everybody's problem??:D

The problem with it? Well, for one thing, most of the folks buying the product are NOT from South America....................

Yes but the designs of the knives were born and raised in south america.

Do we concern ourselves with the lineage of the buyers or the product?

I think thats where alot of folks lose the focus. These knives were designed from information gained in the jungles of south america. They also happen to work well here in the states but they are now named better to reflect their heritage.

It's a beautiful thing.

Big Deal
Nike is a Greek word, but an awful lot of Americans wear their shoes.
Santoku is a Japanese knife, but we don't refer to our "bullnose vegetable knives" in the kitchen.
Very few of the cars on the road are US brands - or names, but they still get driven.

If your favorite blade is a Condor blade or HI Khukri, it doesn't make you less of a RAT Packer. I didn't even own an RC/ESEE blade when I became a member of the pack.

Who cares what Jeff & Mike call their knife brand - Like RAT said -- it's the philosophy behind the knife that matters, not the name on the blade.

climbing off my soapbox now.

I agree.

point of humor - anyone else notice the guy baggin on using a Spanish name, Has a tagline in what appears to be Latin?

yup - and a german user name - the pronunciation which could be grounds for mocking if I were the sort to do that to a total stranger.
After a few beers, or in chat, maybe - but not a total stranger. :D

btw, the latin translates roughly as "noone provokes me with impunity".

You can feel to mock me face to face any time.

No matter how you pronounce the name or use the old name, the fact is that these are Great people making a Great product, with a Great warranty that NOBODY can beat. Love ESEE (RAT) knives, Built like tanks.

It does not get any better or any simpler than that right there!

I agree 120%

Yea, that whole "Nike" changeover never really worked out for Blue Ribbon Sports....
or brad's drink to Pepsi Co.
or Diet Deluxe to Healthy Choice
or AuctionWeb to EBay
or Confinity to PayPal
or Sound of Music to Best Buy....

True, true. However in this case they are changing their name to ESEE and another company is still using RAT. This can go two ways as I see it. Uninformed buyers will still buy RAT.

ESEE is good people and good product though, so I wish them the best.
:)
