Can we PLEASE get a CG SAR8 eventually?

It is the year 2018, Busse releases the SAR-8 CG! Satisfied?
I stole the kool-aid picture for later use. Egregious I know.

Man - We need a bunch of Double Cut Sar8's with various handles. Especially black and tan...

Yes, black and tan!!!!

Do more of those...

...wait why da hell am I asking, I can't afford it anyway.

I bought one! Kind of, but not really.

My favorite U.S. knife dealer recently started stocking Kanetsune knives. I put in an order for the Kiwami, an 8" Hitachi Super Blue fixed blade. The style and dimensions of the knife are very close to the SAR-8.
That Super Blue steel is pretty sweet too (half the reason for getting the knife), though it doesn't fill the same role as INFI. No batoning through cars with this one.
Once it arrives (later this month. International shipping:grumpy:) I'll just have to pretend it's got orange G-10 scales and a pure arctic white blade.

I think coated Sar8 would have to be like the CG BWM most convex with a V edge grind, that looses some apeal for me.

I think we should be asking for a comp grade Sar8 with full convex grind and canvas micarta.... oh yeah and dimples!

No appeal lost for me, or judging by the quantity of sales, for many other Busse customers. There seem to be an awful lot of BWBM CG's, as well as NMSFNO and NMFBM CG's out there, all of which have a convex primary grind and a V edge. Zero edges are nifty but not all that big of a deal for a user knife, and it's not that hard to give yourself a zero edge later if you want to.

The comp grade stuff was much more of a "niche" experiment than CG, which has a long history in Busse blades.

Ok, just give me an older E handle BM with a convex primary grind, less tall blade, and the nuclear meltdown on the spine, and I'll buy it in a heartbeat :D

I'd actually prefer the ergo handles to the sar-8 handles. How about a nuclear meltdown ergo series??? NMBM-E :D

Yeah, forgot about those aspects of the SAR8. You're right, it's better.

Bahh...........just get a full heigth convex grind on it! everything else is cosmetics.

How would you know - you don't use em :D :p

In all seriousness, I like the meltdown a lot on a user. The choil on the NMSFNO is very comfortable, and the rounded spine is great for batoning, because it doesn't chew up the baton.

The meltdown finish also makes the coating more durable. On my FSH, the coating is worn completely off in spots at the spine, due to the sharp corners. On the NMSFNO, the coating looks practically new, and it's been used more and harder than the FSH. The nuclear meltdown finish is much more than just aesthetics...

That's one reason I was really happy to see a slight edge bevel on the spine of the bushwacker. Very nice, practical feature for a heavy use knife.

So..."I haven't seen a single person say "man, what we need is more satin SAR8 SE's with different handle combos."

Well here you go: I want a satin SAR8 SE with Green Linen!!! (And I've been saying it for months!)

Seriously, I hope you all do get a CG SAR8 soon. A muddy SAR8 would be great.
Cheers,
"Bloody Bill"

Hey It's February, time for a bump.

A few weeks ago my Kiwami came in. Great news! I want a CG SAR-8 more than ever!
The Kiwami is nothing like a Busse. Partial tang, blade grinds are off. For an 8" knife they really didn't think it through very well. Not that the knife would do any heavy work anyway. When your blade is made of Hitachi Super Blue it really should have an edge less than .01" thick.

That is to say, I still need the perfect 8" camp knife that I can use to chisel my home out of the side of a mountain with, and still afford to get a duplicate in case I lose the first one.
