Can you help a girl out? :)

I once read a story written by a world war 2 vet who had killed a man (german) with a thrown bayonet he kept strapped to the outside of his pack .The mans rifle had run out of ammo and his side arm jammed as the enemy rushed at him with his also empty rifle with its bayonet attached the blade struck the ememy in the neck causing massive bleeding and fairly quick death. The guy freely admits it was a lucky throw but he did throw knives as a hobby before going to war .He also said that he always throws blade hold style but in this case he had to throw it the way he could easily grab it by the handle. The stormy was in a knife magazine.
