Can you tell if a steel is stainless just by looking at it? If you think you can tell, just cast your vote here. The Moras shown are identical models, except for steel type. Nothing has been altered about the photo except for desaturating the color of the handles. Also, one was a little older than the other and I noticed it used a different variant of the logo, so I 'shopped that so they'd match during this stage. Saturday evening I'll reveal which one is which, with the original full color photo. :)

I have to be able to palpate (Salad Finger) , sniff , lick and ping ! Or maybe just some nice spicy mustard plus time ? ;)

You may send them to me for analysis , but don't expect them back . :rolleyes:

There’s no way to tell. However my first instincts tell me the top one is. That said I feel like maybe you knew we would think it is the top one and are trying to trick us when really it is the bottom one.

In truth there is no way of knowing from the pic. I ended up voting the bottom one because of the way it reflects whatever is darkening the heel side of the blade. I guess I figured more chromium = truer reflectivity?In truth I have no idea.
 
^^ I am pretty sure "whatever is darkening the heel side of the blade" is FortyTwoBlades! No idea about the steel, though.

Lower one is stainless ....I think I can see the reflection of that thin passive corrosion layer :p But if I lick them or smell them................. :D

It's worth noting that in the process of desaturating the handles to remove the color from them I also adjusted the value so that they were an approximate match for each other for the lighting present. If I just did a straight greyscale conversion the difference in value between the two handle colors would have still made it obvious which was which. Maybe that isn't the reason for your decision, but figured I'd mention it in case it's an influencing factor. :)
